Tell me the best emulation software which runs the windows applications and games properly on leo4all v3 10.5.2.

I earlier downloaded crossover but it is asking me to download quartz-wm but i have not got a solution for it.

So, give me the solution for either of the above i.e best emulation software/crossover problem.

Parallels seems to be a good emulator for Windows, but I don't know how well it supports graphics.

VMware Fusion 2 Beta 1 definitely supports directx and I hear to be a great emulator too.

VirtualBox is the only free one, but It just came out of beta so I don't know how good the graphics are.

Keep in mind that I've only tried VirtualBox (which works good, but isn't the fastest in "Seamless Mode") and VMware Fusion 1.3 (which was just as good and had a better "Unity Mode" but I thought of as more of a memory hog).

Actually, VMware Fusion 2 Beta 1 is technically "free" but will probable expire when the beta program is finished.

Also, these all require windows to be installed in them.

I agree, Fusion 2 is really good, better than Parallels.

The quartz library Crossover is asking you for can be found on the JaS 10.4.8 install DVD. You simply stuck the DVD on the drive and that's it.

However, it really sucks on graphics and not all of Windows programs can be run with Crossover... At least, none of the most desired.

I use Parallels and Vista, though I rarely have need to use it. It runs at a good clip of speed even on 1gig of memory, which considering how slow Vista is natively on 1gig is faintly astonishing. Perhaps that is is because you don't get all of Vista's visual effects via Parallels, which is to say transparency of windows, or at least if you do I haven't tried to enable it. I haven't tried running games on it. Parallels and vmware keep upping the anti, so if you read any reviews on them, make sure what you are reading is very up to date. That said, any emulation software is going to place a bottlekneck that would be avoided if you simply dual boot. Vista partition for games. 10.5.4 for... anything that requires a productive and stable environment for getting things done. Heck, get an iMac! I know a couple of people who dual boot that with XP and the new iMacs are fine for running all but the more demanding games.

Got you. Parallels lets me add programs to the dock and run them as if they are running natively within Leopard. It is beyond the fun party trick element and very useful. I don't have much use for Windows programs, though, so don't use it a great deal. You'll find a lot on google, though.

I'm trying out VMware (as I mentioned in an earlier post) and it lets me do the same thing. It still requires Windows to be visualized though. :(

I think Parallels is going the same thing in the background, though I love the seemless intigration. I was messing around with it last night. 1gig is pushing it a little but in fairness I was running two messenger apps, Apple itunes, Apple Firefox and Safari at the same time as running Vista on Parallels. With the bare minimum running on Leo it was easily fast enough for office work and light graphics programs. With 2 gigs I supsect it would fly. Not a lot of difference from running Vista on its own... though useless for games, when I last checked.
