Actually in most Winds you have to change the WiFi card as the one shipped does not work in OS X. It's best to swap in something like the Dell 1500 which is a Wireless-N card.

yes indeed ;)

even dell 1490 and 1505 , as I installed on mine :) .It takes just five mins.

Is it possible to connect WIND to a bigger screen in order to use it as main... Not to have a Mirrored or Cloned screens but only VGA-Out in for example 1280x1024 resolution with dock and desktop on it...

Any ideas?

Having recently had my VAIO laptop stolen, I recently purchased this baby as an on the go replacement (until I can afford a Macbook Pro), and I am very satisfied. I ended up getting the $350 U100-420US that Best Buy has. Boot-132 installed onto an 8 gig flash drive to test, then formatted and installed to the HD from the flash drive. I then used an MSI Wind package I found here, so its not 100% true vanilla, but very close. Im using a Kensington micro USB receiver for bluetooth and have a Dell 1500n card ordered and on its way to replace the non-working (as of now at least) Realtek wireless card.

The only thing that I need to do is to get one more gig of RAM and install that wireless card when it arrives. I totally recommend this baby.

Device manager should  give you some idea. Failing that Everest (Google for this) will give a full hardware breakdown.

Apparently some have a somewhat compatible WiFi card, most have a totally incompatible card.

Not to detract from any of the wonderful work & information here on InsanelyMac but there is a specialist OSX on MSI Wind forum that is full of noobies with noobish questions answered there OS X on MSI Wind Froum

Look at the Sticker on the bottom of your Wind, in the near of the FCC Sign there should be a hint which wifi Chipset is in youre Wind (Atheros, Realtek, Broadcom (BCM))

IT seems I can not install parallels desktop 4.0, it gives me error about virtualisation not supported on my wind, can someone try ?

Maybe it is because the Atom Processor in the MSI Wind dosent support any Virtualisation features, like the Core2Dou's in normal Macs :)

Well folks Msi wind has a working wifi solution on stock rt2700. I have installed drivers from ralink taiwan and it works even though not a airport extreme card its recognized as eth2 but it works great. link for file is http://www.ralinktech.com.tw/Home/Support/Macintosh.html file is rt2860 pci/mpci one it works guys wifi on mah wind !!!!

Sorry if this message is in twice, I replied last night and it doesn't seem to be here.

Anyway, I tried this file and it too works on my new Wind. The problem is the utility comes up every time the machine boots up and it doesn't find my network. I have to turn off/on the radio via the advanced tab to get it to see my network. Do you have the same issue?

Note that I installed via the MSIWIND osx install dvd and not with 123boot and retail, so I'm running 10.5.4

Thanks!

Rick
