Detosx
http://www.laptopmag.com/review/laptops/msi-wind.aspx?page=1 Ticks pretty well all of the boxes for me, apart from the GMA 950. Battery life, battery life, battery life. Dying to try the keyboard. Asus's EEE has a suprisingly decent keyboard that I almost never made typing errors on. nightrain811
Hmm, are you using 10.5.3? Which integrated framebuffer? I am using 10.5.3 framebuffer and GMA950 files. I am able to plug EFI GFX strings, but i end up with only a blue screen. I think it has something to with recognizing my LCD screen, which I believe natit helps with. EDIT: HAH ! well whatta ya know, I replaced the Integratedframebuffer with the one from iATKOS v 1.0i 10.5.1 removed Natit and viola! My GMA950 is working, including VGA-out so are you saying this fix might work with the Wind?
Carpet
so are you saying this fix might work with the Wind? Its entirely possible, it depends on the Vendor, Device and Revision ID i guess. My notebook system profiler info: Intel GMA 950: Chipset Model: GMA 950 Type: Display Bus: Built-In VRAM (Total): 64 MB of shared system memory Vendor: Intel (0x8086) Device ID: 0x27a2 Revision ID: 0x0003 Displays: Display: Display Type: LCD Resolution: 1280 x 800 Depth: 32-bit Color Built-In: Yes Core Image: Hardware Accelerated Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Quartz Extreme: Supported Display Connector: Status: No display connected
Redliner
I am thinking that the 950 graphics will work, but that they will be releaseing the x3100 with the new Atom 1.6ghz dual-cores.
Hyper X
The wireless is an 8187 Right? Does it work with the realtek drivers? Also what sound chipset does it use? What works and what doesnt? Same question about the LAN, 4 in 1 card reader, Web Cam... Also what about sleep, shutdown, and reboot? Also does the battery indicator work! :censored2: I ask a alot I know. But I am about to sell my Extensa 5220 and want to make sure this will have a shot at working.
deathsled
I think I'll be replacing my eeePC with one of these! It's specs are right on par with this super cheap hackintosh I built, and if I can get this kind of power in a small portable package then I'm sold! Tiger/Leopard just aren't usable on the eeePC lol. paaqoo
Hi! the MSI Wind will be released as a nearly identical device by Medion (or is released). I will buy one of these great machines tomorrow. Are there some kind of instructions how to install OSX86 on this machine(s)? My main-machine is a MacBook Pro - so I normally use the "real" OSX - but running Mac OS on such a tiny "take everywhere" machine is GREAT - and I want to have it... So - who is able and willing to provide help? Thanks in advance! Greetings paaqoo
kinkster
There aren't any instructions yet naturally, since the only person to have done it is a Spanish speaker person who hasn't really provided us with to many details. If you would only buy this machine if you could run OSX on it you might want to wait till a bit after the 7th(when it comes out in most places) when more people have got one and tried various fixes for the card reader and everything else that doesn't quite work yet. Wifi is pretty much guaranteed though, as it's been confirmed in some video review that that that easy to remove looking chip is the wifi. so you can just throw in a dell card or something and it would work fine. happycar
Here we go! Just got mine today and whacked 10.5.2 (Kalyway) onto it. I've got airport going with a Dell 1390 card. The inbuilt one RTL8187SE doesn't seem to work and I had to put more RAM in anyway. The RTL8187SE is physically the same size as the Dell 1390, but it has the standoffs mounted halfway down the PCB as well as at the full size length. I had to snap the middle standoff off the mainboard to get my chunky Dell 1390 to fit! And it is working a charm! QE and CI are all working with no issues. I am slowly compiling all my info into a text edit file and will upload to http://wind-osx86.wikispaces.com/ later tonight I hope! Video of it all in action at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQt205r8tsg Enjoy! and yes the battery indicator is working I think I'll put a video tutorial together as well. But that will have to wait until the sun is out. Too dark in my little home.

Also plz try the camera and recording audio.... Webcam works (needs QE and CI going first). Wi-Fi isn't working as its RTL8187SE chipset. Wi-Fi can be swapped. I put a Dell 1390 Mini PCI-E in there and it's working a charm! I'll be testing further once I have base systems working such as headphones. We need headphones. The speakers in this thing are terrible! I wanna know does the card reader work! Card Reader is working with a 4GB SDHC SanDisk - looked to be around 4-6MB a sec on a 500MB file. Clicks in nicely too, why is every so obsessed with card readers! Whoops looks like my left USB ports are out of line. Better crack it back open again. nightrain811
will it be possible to get wifi working with the stock realtek card? that seems like the biggest obstacle right now. also, what about power management...does it show the battery meter? what kind of battery life are you getting? Stock Wi-Fi should be possible, not quite yet though as it seems the chipset isn't really used in anything except the Wind. Power management reports % and time correctly. % in increments of 1% and to see the time remaining is GREAT. http://wiki.taruga.net/tiki-index.php Grab HDEnabler and the Experimental ALC888 AppleHDA kext. I have some that should work and if you PM your email I will send them along to you. I gave that a go, but all I get is nothingness. No sound at all. It populates System Profiler - which is nice. The options of output devices changes around a fair bit with each different kext used, but no sound on any of them except good old Azalia.

happycar
happy car--btw thanks for working on that wiki. it'll be quite helpful! Not a problem, it's there for my reference too I did a similar thing with the EeePC and there are still comments all over the place. But I forgot the log in for the admin account. Oh and the EeePC aint got anything on the Wind. Good, now one of my other concerns.. battery life. How long does it last on battery ? I am assuming you got the 3 cells battery correct ?Thanks for your time, 3-cell is the one I got 2200mAh I believe. Will be testing this tomorrow and marking down how long it takes to drain while running iTunes on loop with Airport connected to a network. Bluetooth off, brightness around 50%. All data collected will be inputted into the wiki under What's Working. Sleep is working via the hot keys. It works perfectly! Let me send ya some files, email addy? Didn't you get the PM I sent? I send again! One sec!
