Does anyone have a modified Bios for Dell Vostro 420 It uses American Megatrends Inc (AMI) 1.2.1.

specs:

Intel® Core™ 2 Quad Q9400 2.66GHz, 6M, L2Cache, 1333FSB

500GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/DataBurst Cache

I have tried 8 different Distros

1.Kalyway 10.5.2

2. Leo4All 10.5.2

3. IPC 10.5.6

4. JaS 10.5.2

5. Jas 10.5.4

6. IatKos 5i

7. IatKos 7

8. Ideneb v 1.5.1 10.5.7

Majority of them i can get to install by using # cpus=1 -f

but during boot up as soon as it gets to the Apple splash screen it locks up.

by using # cpus=1 -f -v -x -s i can see where it freeze up

Mac framework successfully initialized

Using 16384 buffer headers and 4096 cluster IO buffer headers

I am downloading to fix AppleACPIPlatform.kext and AppleAPIC.kext issues but i still don't think it's going to work, does anyone have any insite ?

I know I'm one of the many seeking help on installation of OSx86 on PC, but please could someone help me?

I have a Asus P5Q Pro Turbo, and as I see, there is no BIOS mod for it.

Is it possible for someone to find the time and will to make a modded BIOS for this mobo?

BIOS link:

If not, could you please point me in the right direction?

Hey there, please be gentle on me, I know how annoying the lame noob questions are. I want to do this, I just want an idea of what I'm doing before I go screwing with my bios, etc. Is there any chance I could get someone experienced with this hardware setup to IM me or something? I'm not a complete moron, but it's hard finding info specific to my hardware...

Here's what I have

Motherboard: P5Q3 DELUXE/WIFI-AP CH1-11

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 Wolfdale 3.16GHz

RAM: G.SKILL 2x2GB 240-Pin DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666)

Video Card: BFG Tech GeForce 8800 GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0

I also have an extra 500 gig hard drive to throw at this project. I'm sure I'm just making this harder for myself, but I figured it can't hurt to ask.

AIM: ORLY Luci

Yahoo: lucifercaitiff

or you can reply here.

Among my questions for getting started on this, is there a specific version of OSx86 will run best with my hardware? Anything special I need to do with it once I......acquire it?

What do I need to do to my bios for this?

I'm sure I'll have many more quetions once I get going, but this should keep me occupied for a while.

thanks

Yep, same error here no matter what I do. Installing is fine, no need for any commands but booting just freezes with that error.

1. what bios version do you have? You probably don't have to do anything

with your BIOS.

2. I originally used the ideneb version of Leopard V1.4 10.5.6 and everything

was working fine with a few tweaks.

3. When Snow Leopard came out I decided to buy a new hard drive and

Install Snow Leopard 10.6. I used the following thread to do my install

and it worked pretty well. Here's the link to the thread

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=180954

4. The thread is specific to Gigabyte boards, but it also works for others.

I have the same board as you. See my sig at bottom. I used the

boot cd method described in that thread.

5. Once Snow leopard was installed I had to round up kexts for the

Marvell ethernet adapter, software for the Ralink wifi (Ralink site) and

kexts for the Soundmax.

6. After SL was installed and I was satisfied it was working I did a software

update to 10.6.1. I haven't done the update to 10.6.2 yet as I've been

working on my Win 7 and Ubuntu installs.

7. The retail install disk for Snow Leopard costs 29 dollars and you can

download everything else you need to install from links in the above

mentioned thread. One note, The Ralink software will only work in 32 bit

mode but it does work. I haven't checked the Ralink site lately to see

if they have added a 64 bit driver.

8. I would print out the start of the thread listed above and then set about

downloading all the items you will need to do the install before starting.

Follow the thread carefully and you should be able to get Snow Leopard

working.

Good luck

Note - Just checked Ralionk site and there appears to be new drivers there.

Here is the link - http://www.ralinktech.com/support.php?s=3

wow thank you so much! That should be enough to get me going, I'll post my progress. This actually looks very straightforward...

It looks like I can just go straight in with the purchased version of snow leopard 10.6? or did you first install the 10.5 system and then go up from there?

You can just install 10.6 and then update to 10.6.2.

Have fun

hello, im a total noob towards running all the osx 86 on my computer, after reading up hours i realized i cannot proceed to boot after installing osx on my computer, it installs with ideneb but when it comes to boot screen it just freezes on the apple logo, now i have tried all the commands such as cpus=1, -x-v-y etc, still not working, i came to the conclusion that i may have to hack my bios to get the install going, i have even tried to install my correct drivers during installation, but still not working my specs are:

intel core 2 quad Q9400 @2.66ghz

6gb of corsair ram

ASUS P5QC

NVIDIA GEFORCE 9800GTX+

ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT thank you

Hi all,

I need your help! I read that my MoBo requires the correction of APCI, so I can use the DSDT or a BiosMod.

I think that DSDT process is complicated for me but also with a BiosMod I have a problem.

The lastest Bios released for my Motherboard is too old for my configuration, there is anyone that can help me to create a Bios based on the lastest?

Here you can find the link to the lastest v2203 ASUS BIOS

I have the same problem (my motherboard is Asus P5Q Deluxe).

I read in some forum to change in the Bios SATA RAID AHCI Mode from IDE to AHCI. Tonight I try to install without the AppleSMC.kext....

A question for IPhoneTom. What happen after you successful install Kalyway in your PC? did you lost dual boot with windows vista?

Thanks

I have the Asus P5Q Deluxe motherboard as well, but I can't get to the installation at all. I keep getting this error "Waiting for Root Device"

Can you help me out please?
