pc guy
I got these files AppleHDA.kext and ALCInject.kext files from my XPS 1530 after patching with HDA Patcher and got it to work. I tried many different codec dumps with HDA Patcher for my 1525 and so far no success. So I figure trying to copy these two files from my XPS to the Extensions folder then do chmod and chown as usual. Reboot and if you see the sound volume. Put the laptop to sleep then wake it. You'll have sound. [update] I extracted my 1525 codec and used HDA Patcher 1.6. Now the sound comes out just fine and I do not have to wake it to get sound. Codec: SigmaTel STAC9228 Vendor Id: 0x83847616 Subsystem Id: 0x10280242 Revision Id: 0x100402 Please post your reply here if it works for you. aster
Im a total looser as regards of programing. But, just playing with different codec dumps I managed to get the SPDIF sound out. (better quality). I just used some of the codec 9228 and 9223. Now the sound works with more quality, but the mic either internal or external still does not work. Any ideas? Any progress with the mic? Here is the txt dump for the AppleHDpatch 1.16 Sigmatel_dell_1525_SPDIF.txt
mic.mac.hack
I followed Richard's guide (espressoresort) for my insprion 1525 but I wasn't satisfied with the sound (no mic and no mute). So i booted into linux and extracted the codec dump that way, hoping for a vast improvement, unfortunately...it did nothing. Does anyone know how to get the mute button or the mic inputs (/internal mic) working on dell inspiron 1525?

webdevbrian
Could you please upload your AppleHDA.kext ? Thanks;) I hate to bump an old thread, but... I ran the AppleHDSUpdater with your codec, not working for my dell 1525, it still indicates that there's no device for audio.
