HELP!

Hey guys,

New to the forum so let me know if there is a better section for this. I've had my black macbook for almost a year now, and i've noticed in the past few months i've been getting really spotty wireless internet. From the start, I've felt that I purchased somewhat of a "lemon" laptop, especially with it freezing the very first time I turned it on. The occasional freezing is annoying but not that big of a deal. However, the internet problems are.

Does anybody know of a way to troubleshoot my wireless card to see if there are any inherent hardware defects?

Thanks!

I had a lot of wireless issues with my Macbook. This has been a thorn in Macbook user's sides for some time now (google it, you'll see).

First, thing you want to do is make sure your Mac is up to date, there have been updates to "resolve" this issue.

Second, make sure your wireless router/AP has the latest firmware.

Third, turn off IPv6 (if you are not using it, that is)

Forth, do some troubleshooting and give us some more information. i.e., have you tried it with/without encryption (WEP/WPA)? About how far away from your router are you? Check what wireless channel you are using and make sure there aren't 5 neighbor's using the same one (in the US the default channel is 6 and not many people change it) - try changing it to 2 or 9 and note the difference.

Hope that helps. If you continue to have issues (especially with the freezing) get it to Apple Store, they may be related.
