This is quite simple, let me state the usual, I am not responsible for any damages. etc, etc, etc... -_- blah blah blah. But seriously.

Also please at least buy leopard like I did. Thats right! Pull yourself together man and save up 130 dollars! http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB427Z/A?mco=MTMyOTM

All right before I begin let me say I have been watching the OSx86 for about 3 years now, and I am deeply satisfied with the results this community has accomplished. Let's here it for OSx86!

Espicially macgirl (for just knowing too much about Macs and OS X and btw sexy avatar!), JaS, modbin, kaybl, deadmoo, ~pcwiz, netkas, iatkos, ToH (duh! for the kernel work), semthex, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OSx86, http://forum.osx86scene.com/, http://osx86.thefreesuite.com/, http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/index.php, and of course InsanelyMac!

And remember to watch my youtube videos, which are completely unrelated to OSx86: http://youtube.com/the65thchromosome

Now, since I cannot post on the OSx86 Wiki :( , here is the info for all to see:

===HP dv9540us===

====System Configuration====

*CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo @ 1.50GHz

*RAM: 2x1GB DDR2 333MHz

*HD: 2x120GB SATA with Custom SATA extender for unnatural portable motherboards

*Graphics Card: nVidia GeForce 8600MS GS 256MB (dedicated) 767MB (shared from system) total: 1023MB, 17-inch Display WXGA (not sure)

*USB 2.0 x 3

*Wireless: Intel 4965 A/B/G/N Wifi

*Ethernet: Realtek RTL8168B/8111B Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.0)

*Audio: ALC268 by Realtek (Realtek High Definition Audio Device)

*OS X Version: Kalyway 10.5.2 Intel_AMD

*Media drives: Ricoh 5-in-1 card reader

*Webcam: HP Webcam by Ricoh

*Firewire: 4-pin

*DVD Drive: IDE Slimtype DVD A DS8AZH

====Make sure you check notes please, they are very important====

====Working out-of-the-box====

*nVidia GeForce 8600M GS (Not Full Resolution / No Dual Monitor Support) The instructions for the dv9000t may work, but caution for the Graphics Card in the dv9540us uses a 256MB chip, not 512MB. Please install by checking off NVInject, NVInject GO, NVInject 256MB!

*USB 2.0

*Internal Firewire

*HP Media Remote (only volume buttons work)

*HP Quickplay Launch Buttons, would love to somehow assign the DVD button to bring up DVD Player.app :D

*Keyboard, Touchpad

====Working, but user action required====

'''Intel High Definition Audio'''

Audio requires driver ALC 268 - http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...st&id=26978

====Still Not Working====

'''Intel 4965 B/G/N WiFi'''

2008.05.23 - A driver is in alpha development but currently causes kernel panics and doesn't work.2008.05.23

* See Iridarwin driver at http://code.google.com/p/iwidarwin/

'''Ricoh 5-in-1 Reader'''

Simply does not work.

====Bugs====

* Vanilla Kernel Hangs on Sleep

*Shutdown does not work. Stuck at black screen. Sometimes a kernel panic even.

====Not tested====

* Output to S-Video, HDMI

* Internal Modem

* HP Expansion Port

* PCIe Port

====Notes====

*Vanilla Kernel - works, but with glitches.

*Ethernet - Took a very precise way to get working. First go to http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=29436, then run "installdebug", if this does not work, run "installrelease". Reboot for each install

*Graphics Card - It is GREAT, the little sister of the MacBook Pro's 8600M GT, but it does have its problems. I have not tested games like Command and Conquer, but QE/CI is supported. Dual monitors does not work. The explained manual patch MIGHT work below, but don't know for sure.

*Audio - Two options will come up in System Preferences --> Sound; If you are using the Internal Speaker, select such. If using external speaker/headphones/mic select such.

*CPU - 1.50GHz does not sound great, but I have tested great apps such as Logic Pro 8 and it works outstanding great. It really shocks you. Full instructions set as on any other Core 2 x series. MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, SSSE3, EM64T.

*RAM - no problem but you should install the MacBook SMBIOS, PC_EFI v8 installs by default.

*Other - To dual boot with Vista please see this article --> This the guide! lol :P

_______________________________________________________________________________

Please keep in mind I got rid of my HP recov partition but the instructions should be exact for those with it anyway. I got rid of it caus its stupid! :P

1) BACK UP ALL DATA I cannot stress this enough. Always do this, I payed the price before on a different laptop. :(

2) Get this or die. http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/windows-vist...-disc-download/ Ther is an x86 version and a x64 version for those of you who LOVE not having DVD43 compatabilty. Stupid 64bit Windows!

3) Get ready. This will take about 2-5 hours with maximum patching and such. Then tack on time with backing up data, USB is still kinda slow :thumbsdown_anim: .

4) Make sure you have a nicely FAT32 or NTFS partition on a whole or just part of your HD. When I used to have OS 10 on my PC, (no more I am building Desktop for that :thumbsup_anim: ) I had a 1st HD 1 partition that took up the whole HD and then 1 60GB partition for porn (lol jk it was "data" :blink: ) and another 60GB for Leopard. Whatever you do, please dont just go ahead and name it Mac OS X, or Leopard. It messes it up. Period.

5) Make sure you have Kalyway 10.5.2 from YOU KNOW WHERE. Don't ask me please. Just always remember, JFGI! And if you don't know what that means, ur a n00b and go away.

6) OK, putting the bashing off to the side for about a minute, remember to burn the ISO to a DVD download EasyBCD (google it), get the partition rar'in to go, and reboot.

7) Now when it get to the countdown screen, press f8 and type:

-f "Graphics Mode"="1440x900x32@60"

With those quotes and it will boot up in full resolution. It should come up to the installer in 5 minutes. Max 10 minutes.

8) Now select your language (for most I assume English unless you prefer another language). Now go to Utilities --> Disk Utility. Remember that partition you made before, well time to partition it, AGAIN. I know, I know. All you have to do is partition as a HFS Journaled partition.

9) Go to Utilites --> Terminal. Once you are there, type:

diskutil list (now your hds, partitions, other media, should come up)

fdisk -e /dev/rdiskX (if it is the first HD replace X with 0, if second HD it is changed to 1)

flag Y (replace Y with partition number, remember that partition count starts from 1 not 0 which HDs start from 0)

update

write

y

q

9) NOW YOU DO NOT HAVE TO RESTART FROM DOING THE ABOVE, actually dont even restart anyway! Even if it said a system reboot is required from updating the machine code, dont worry.

10) Here is the long part I am trying to remember. Lets see... OH YES! The patching, what a {censored}:

a) Under kernels, check Vanilla ONLY

B) Under Graphics, go to nVidia and choose NVInject, NVInject Go, and NVInject 512MB

c) Under Audio drivers DO NOT SELECT ANY.

d) Under Network Drivers, select ONLY Realtek R1000, m'kay class?

e) Under Mobo Chipsets, DO NOT SELECT ANY

f) Under Thirds Applications, select any that interest you, its up to you!

g) Under Patches, select only the following:

AppleSMBIOS MB (This is a MacBook SMBIOS if only there was a MacBook Pro SMBIOS :( )

h) Under Other patches (which should be under Patches) Check TimeMachineFix and PowerManagement_Bundle

Thats all for patches. For now anyway, there will be more.

11) When it is done (Which it can take from 20- 40 minutes) then restart with the Vista Recov Disc and remember to use x86 if you have x86 and x64 if you have x64!

12) Boot from the disc.

13) Go to System Recovery Options and open CMD (command prompt for u n00bs)

14) Here comes the complicated part and a note. Remember that HD count starts from 0 in Windows and partition starts from 1. Now type these commands in order (DUH :rolleyes: )

diskpart

select disk X (number of HD Vista is installed on)

select partition Y (number of partition Vista is installed on)

active

exit

bootrec /RebuildBCD (It may say something like "X amount of Windows Installations found would you like to blah blah blah... -_- sleepy... If it does not don't worry, mine said nothing at all I didn't even have to answer anything and it still works.)

y

select disk X (number of HD Leopard is installed on)

select partition Y (number of partition Leopard is installed on)

active

exit

And now that part is done. Phew.

15) So you should be able to boot into windows without it saying "Could not find file:winload.exe.mui" Now go into EasyBCD and add an entry of Mac OS X by going to Add/Remove Entries --> Mac --> Generic x86 PC.

There you go. If for any reason in EasyBCD you get a window labeled "Boot drive" displaying an error, check the EasyBCD forums.
