keftes
What software is everyone using to monitor cpu temps? Thanks.
~pcwiz
For Mac OS X, Temperature Monitor is the best one, for Windows use SpeedFan Also, your BIOS has built in temperature monitoring too.
Dermatea
I use Asus' PC Probe II to monitor my temps. It's a great app, but probably won't work for non-Asus motherboards, but I also hear a lot of people use SpeedFan: http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php
~pcwiz
Yeah, I use ASUS PC Probe on one of my machines that has an ASUS motherboard. Pretty accurate, and it has a nice display so you can monitor temps at all times.
iPirate
If you have a real Mac, you can't go past iStat Menus. As well as a good display of different temperature sensors, you can also see fan speeds coupled with the Wattage, Voltage and Current (Amps) usage of many internal components. ~pcwiz
That is really an EXCELLENT program. I am using iStat now and I love it. The only feature that doesn't work with OSX86 machines is the Fan and Power, everything else works fine for me.

Yeah, I really miss having voltage measurement in OS X. vregs don't have thermal sensors, so the only way you can tell if they are getting too hot is by looking for voltage instability. This is normally not an issue, but if you push real high overclocks it can be.
~pcwiz
Will Asus Probe run on a Hackintosh/ Its a Windows utility that only runs on ASUS motherboards. Not for OS X.

vaporATX
Speedfan is excellent in windows. I especially like the email alerts feature. I have one setup that'll email me if a core temp drops below a certain temp. If I'm running a Prime session and one of the cores errors and fails Speedfan will shoot an email to my phone and let me know. That way I can make a trip home between customer calls, change my bios settings a bit, and restart prime.

vaporATX
Won't work. It'll run, but it doesn't detect any sensors under crossover.

phinnaeus
i dont suppose there is a way to get istat to read the the cpu temps that temperature monitor is reading? both istat and temp monitor show my hard drive, but only temp monitor shows my cpu core temps (and it shows all four individually, really cool)
resiroth
45nm temperatures are often wrong. Download realtemp. I think it's only for windows but you can not only test the validity of the sensors you also get more accurate readings than other sources.
