Hi people,

I am here to let you know my nice experience with a recent mobo i bought.

It is the Intel D945GCLF

D945GCLF_sm.jpg

I payed it 54€ (here in Italy, i don't know how do you spend where you live...)

This mobo is a Mini-itx 17cmx17cm and has:

Integrated Intel® Atom 1.6ghz (HT) processor

Realtek ALC662 audio

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950

Six USB 2.0 ports

Two SATA ports

One parallel ATA IDE interface

I used Kalyway Leopard 10.5.2.

The installation was perfect and after reboot, the system started with sound even with QE/CI enabled (presentation video and music worked).

Everything work out of the box! Incredible!

Now i am really happy because with onle 54€ + 16€ (1gb ram) = 70€ i got a PERFECT Leopard machine!

Now i am backuping my installation with Time Machine... believe me, incredible!

I am using EyeTV with my Terratec Cinergy Hybrid T XS tv dongle, and it works like a charm! (analog even digital)

Obvious, it is not like a core2duo 2.66... but it did his job like never expected from what i hear around... in internet (people said that Atom is a bad cpu... i don't think so... now!)

Everyone should try this mobo... and i think the price is really not the limit!

I am entusiast!

Bye :D

P.s. A thing i forgot: sleep works! Amazing... :D

Then it doesnt work completely :)

Does audio out work?

Wow... Maybe this one will be my Leo HTPC :D

Thanks for sharing

Without optical / coax digital audio out, not sure it would be a good HTPC :)

I have the same mobo but lots of problems with audio chipset.. PLEASE tell us how did you managed to get functional audio ALC662 as I tried lots of times but nothing. Sound manager seems activated but is stuck and I have no sound at all.

Great, I was waiting for this.

Can someone confirm, that Bonjour is working.

Now I'm using a Gigabyte P35DS3, tried several LAN cards with no success.

Try ASUS WIFI or TRENDNet LAN card see my Sign

works natively 100 % Bonjour everything

I tried the combo update (from kalyway) and it works very good. All is faster now. Unfortunately i lost sleep... appreciated help :D

I think optical/coax output is not requsted from everyone...

Can you do Xbench and Geekbench tests?

Soon

What case and power supply are you using? Is the active cooling really necessary? Did you try to unplug the fan? It's a bit ridiculous to have a passiv cooled cpu and a chipset fan.

I am using a morex 60w passive power supply. I haven't tried to unplug chipset fan... soon i will try

i used kalyway 10.5.2 default selected audio flags. I suppose it use azalia. This evening i will do a kextstat and let you know (i will upload kext if you like...)

How many CPU% are idle when you are watching YouTube?

This evening i will tell you.

This board has no integrated WIFI, so what are talking about?

@Iceman: How fast does the system feel? Am I too optimistic if I think that it would be comparable to my old "devkit-light" (see sig)?

I am using Asus WL-167g USB dongle. In kalyway it is embedded and it's selectable on installation preferences

Believe me: system is really smooth, but don't think you can compare to a C2D... FPU don't lie!

This evening, if i can, i will try to record a video of the system.

Let me go back home (later) :D

How many CPU% are idle when you are watching YouTube?

First question: both core around 50%. (60%-40%.... 40%-60%....)

Here Xbench.

I put three comparisons with PowerMac, MacMini PPC and Intel

sh-3.2# kextstat |grep -i audio

63 2 0x20e5e000 0x17000 0x16000 com.apple.iokit.IOAudioFamily (1.6.4b7) <62 6 5 4 2>

64 0 0x1b180000 0x4000 0x3000 com.apple.driver.AudioIPCDriver (1.0.4) <63 6 5 4 2>

67 2 0x20bd5000 0x5000 0x4000 com.apple.iokit.IOHDAudioFamily (1.0.0d1) <6 5 4 2>

75 0 0x20e15000 0xc000 0xb000 com.apple.driver.AppleAzaliaAudio (1.0.0d1) <67 63 6 5 4 2>

Here some kext... (10.5.2) try and let us know

Same mobo?

Did you have some problem?

Sometime my kernel_task takes lot of cpu percentage... and after some minutes back normal... this is the only strange thing that happens.
