zuz_242
that sounds promising! one question though: how fast could this our hackintosh? i mean, when will our "alternative developers" get their hands on the neccessary parts of snow leo in order to get a working driver for 9600 in leo? cyclonefr
Unfortunately, you can't put 10.6 video kexts into 10.5... There are too much differences between the two OS So don't expect to be running a GT200 or a 9600 GT on Leopard any day. You will have to migrate on Snow Leo. EGOvoruhk
Why would Apple do this? Are they intending on moving towards gaming, selling the OS stand alone, or allowing video cards without the correct BIOS to work (Is that even possible)?
FireEdward
But the Snow Leopard release day is about 1year later, How can I use my9600GT for OSX in this year
spanakorizo
same thing happened with leopard and a lot of unsuported cards before (8800GT for example) i start to blv that every kind of hardware can work 100% if there are the correct drivers allways about f%^&en drivers
sg
Why would Apple do this? Are they intending on moving towards gaming, selling the OS stand alone, or allowing video cards without the correct BIOS to work (Is that even possible)? because 1) they do have some gameing 2) video cards with fast 3D support is needed for pro apps 3) because nvidia writes the drivers anyways and all their cards use the same architecture.3 is the most important, there will be a low/mid/high end nvidia 280 core cards and the same driver will enable all of them to work. But the Snow Leopard release day is about 1year later,How can I use my9600GT for OSX in this year you return your 9600gt and you get a 8800gt instead. vbetts
Apple has always atleast kept up with the video cards, they do it because they've done it for awhile. They keep up with the current hardware. Simple. But right now, I would barely consider the 8800GT seeing that it's $50 less than the 9800GTX.
sg
except the guy was asking for a working 9600GT drive in 10.5. 8800GTs are at most $20 more than a 9600GT and faster.
vbetts
Between the 9600GT and 8800GT, I would definately go for the 8800GT.
