enneff
I have this Firewire audio interface, and it works fine with my MacBook - no drivers necessary. However on my Hackintosh it is recognised fine, but the audio output clicks, pops, and sometimes fails to work altogether. There are only two differences between the machines: a) the MacBook is running 10.5.3, while the Hackintosh runs 10.5.2, and the Firewire interface in the Hackintosh is just some cheap $15 PCI card, while the MacBook (obviously) has an Apple Firewire interface. As the QuataFire has been out for a few years now, I'd say it's most likely the firewire interface in the PC that's causing the issues. Would that be a fair assessment? If so, can anyone recommend an inexpensive PCI Firewire interface that's reported to work well with OSX86? I have noticed Belkin sell one that supports "PC and Mac", so perhaps that's worth trying. I've had a look through the forums for more on this topic, but with Search down I haven't found anything particularly informative on this topic. Any help is greatly appreciated. pere
Just be sure when you buy your firewire card, that the main chip is not an VIA chipset, (for sure the one you have right now it is). Any other chipset may do the trick.
