Intel GMA 950 as a GMA 3100 on Leopard (10.5.3)

So, I looked at the various features of the Intel GMA series, and found out that both the Intel GMA 950 and the 3100 (not X3100) are essentially the same device when it comes to features (granted, the 3100 can handle more memory than the 950), why couldn't they use the same driver? So, my question is:

Is there a 10.5.3 file for the Intel GMA 950?

and, if so,

How would I go about setting it up for the 3100 (as for the device id, which mine is 0x29c2?

Thanks

Kexts for GMA950 are:

AppleIntelGMA950.kext

AppleIntelGMA950GA.plugin

AppleIntelGMA950GLDriver.bundle

AppleIntelGMA950VADriver.bundle

AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext

That issue was already discussed, since no real Macs has GMA900, only the DTK has it but since it was only a Trasition machine Leopard does not support anymore.

I installed iAtkos 10.5.2 and it was working. After the upgrade it quit. The same thing happened on another drive I just upgraded from 10.4.9 to 10.4.11. I have 5 500 gb hard drives and 3 of them I use for playing. I just took a chance and ran the receipt package from a 10.4.9 drive and got GE to work and it really works!

Dude, I re-read that about 3 times and can't understand what you're saying at all...

But if you are in fact saying that you have managed to get your GMA 900 card to work with QE/CI (if that is what you were intending to say), please explain how... You have no idea how many people you'd help lol...

I installed the iDeneb update and the video driver crashed... Now I only can set resolution to 1024x768.

Before update everthing was working perfectly.

Someone can help me?

Hello to (any, still) registered thread members... I built a hackintosh with the Shuttle SG31G2 that has the video GMA 3100 embedded and I can't get past the 1024x768 resolution.... Even with Chameleon RC2, the video BIOS (at boot time, with keypress) reports this being the highest VESA resolution...

Hey, I even pushed a string for GMA950 via smbios.plist (from Chameleon) and despite System Profiler saying it's a 950, no acceleration or detection happened...

So I visited the GMA950 drivers, and on the AppleIntelGMA950.kext > Info.plist I added my card (as reported in the System Profiler) 0x029c20010 (the 0010 being the revision, i.e. the second number that's probably needed since the other models in the Info.plist had an 8-digit number, too). The other kexts Info.plist did not seem to contain hardware IDs or similar digits. Just that one.

Upon reboot, boom! The system caused a kernel panic.

So either (a) the 950 is NOT compatible with the 3100 or (:) on system 10.5.7 Apple did something to the driver itself, compared to say 10.5.2.

I run with a vanilla setup and the official mach_kernel.

Can anyone with more technical skills check with Intel's site and see if 950 and 3100 are even REMOTELY similar?

THANKS!

The Intel GMA 950 and 3100 are similar, but i don't know to what extent...
