I've spent the past few days searching all over for information and I haven't come up with a whole lot. I have an XFX 8600gt 512MB (1VGA + 1DVI - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...82E16814150247) and I would like to get dual monitors working on it. I've currently got one monitor connected to the VGA output with no problems, nearly all resolutions supported, currently at 1680 X 1050. Running Kalyway 10.5.2, I used the built in NVinject kexts, but since then I've modified the NVCap multiple times and used the scott installer pack.

No matter what I change my NVCap to (and I did redo permissions and deleted mkext), When I would boot up, my main monitor (monitor 1) was fine. But connecting the second and clicking detect displays makes monitor 1 go black (and turn off) and monitor 2 turns on, but only shows a black screen. Disconnecting the second monitor and rebooting makes the main display work fine again.

I feel like I'm stuck. I don't know what else to do to get dual monitors working. I feel like I've got the right kexts installed since everything else works (QE, resolutions, etc.). Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Don't have a solution for you yet, but I have the same card and am getting similar results. I've gone ahead and done a ROM dump of the card, and according to NVCAP Maker, the appropriate string should be <04000000 00000100 06000000 00000007 00000000>. That doesn't appear to change anything, but it is different from the default. I'll keep investigating and let you know what I find.

I seem to be in the same boat as the lot of you. I got the same string from NVCAP maker after dumping my ROM, but it was unsuccessful. So far, the only way I have managed to get any picture at all from the DVI was utilizing the NVCAPs listed here on Krazubu's thread dedicated to NVCAP decoding. All of the NVCAPs listed below provided me with a pitiful 800x600 resolution, but at least it's better than a black screen. You have to boot with the DVI connected and the VGA disconnected or else you get VGA @ 1024x768 and "Detect Displays" will be disabled. I have had absolutely no luck with QE/CI via the DVI and also no luck with dual displays.
