Photoshop server 'not responding'

Hi Premiere users,

This is a weird one. When I start Premiere CS3.1.1 I see a process called 'Photoshop server' in the activity monitor. It's in red and marked 'not responding'. I'm suspecting it to cause Premiere to crash sometimes, especially when exporting to mpeg2. I can force quit it and then Premiere seems to run ok but I'd like to get rid of it for good - IF there's a safe way of doing it... What is it for anyway? :D

As always, any hint is much appreciated.

cheers

sol

I realized that Premiere is not so well designed - the Adobe pro movie apps maybe have a lot of bugs and other issues. Lot of problems.

I changed to the pro line of Apple, mainly FC and Motion. FC Studio 2.0 run without any problem and very smooth workflow, brilliant and fast rendering.

Think different ;)

Well... I suppose whatever floats your boat is best for you. The thing is, I've tried very hard to give FCP a shot over several months and several times. It's definitely an excellent product overall BUT even if I didn't know any other NLE to compare it to, the fact that every small step has to be rendered in FCP just annoys the hell out of me. If I can't work in real time and have to wait even only one minute for every effect I add I lose my creative flow and get frustrated quickly. in Premiere and Vegas for instance you don't need to wait for anything. You just create, try out new things and keep the flow...

I understand what you mean, because that was the reason why I never like to use FCP, and prefer to use a Windows PC with Vegas - but since I have a MacPro - like Hackintosh (see me signature) and switch the RT to unlimited RT in FCP I can work mostly in realtime without rendering every single step. The workflow is OK and stable, and I'm nearly finished a very creative music video with a lot of tracks and RT FX and full screen preview on the second monitor.

But I still think Vegas is a very good app (very smooth and intuitive) but deeply depended on Windows DirectX, and Premiere sucks on both OSes.
