9800GX2 working full (qe/ci)

Was getting bored of vista so i decided to get my 9800gx2 working in OS X.

Init-ed the 9800's within efi shell by loading option rom of 8800 card (im too lazy to write vbe initialization code), installed injector kext (with great help to target disk mode :P ), first got 9800 working no qe/ci bt had res change. Then mucked around some more and got qe/ci working.

I used old 2600xt to load option rom as only way to do with refit.

Will upload more pictures / info when i can be bothered and have more sleep.

P.s: benchmarks might seem slow, but still in early stages of getting this working

Great job!

I really wish Apple would officially come out with some form of SLI/Crossfire support. It really is the only thing that makes gives the Mac Pro a disadvantage when it comes to intensive graphics work. Yes I realize the Quadro is a good card but if Dell offers the option of SLI graphics, Apple should too ;)

All I can say wow that card is expensive in comparison to the 8800GT that you get from Apple. Maybe when Nvidia 10800GX2 comes out this card will fall into the affordable range.

Congrats on an amazing card.

Now to get SLI support hacked on the Mac Pro.

The 8800GT does have an SLI port on it from Apple I wonder are they planning to enable it via an EFI update after WWDC?

I say this because of the similarity between the Intel Skulltrail platform (that supports SLI and Crossfire) and the Mac Pro motherboard.

For those that want to do this on hackint0sh the only thing which applies is to use NvKush or NvInject

Ive tried this, also tried using graphics strings. The best i can get is a bluescreen with a stuck cursor when login window loads.

Maybe theres something wrong with my kexts. Could you upload the nvidia kexts that you're using?

Yep... I also think that with the Nehalem redesign (which requires a new mobo), Apple will feel compelled to re-evaluate its position on SLI and may release SLI drivers for older Mac Pros along with the new ones on the Nehalem platform.

Maybe they will also decide to trash FB-DIMM and go with low latency DDR3 memory. Its doubtful that Apple will do this but the majority of Mac Pro customers do not order/install 16 gigabytes of ram into their machine and thus don't need FB-DIMM RAM. With triple channel DDR3, its more than likely that most Nehalem motherboards will support 6GB of ram which is quite a bit. Granted, some people might see the need for 16GB of RAM but most Mac Pro customers DO NOT have that much ram in their computer (I would think most people have anywhere in the range of 2-8GB). I could be totally wrong on this though...
