Hi

if can anyone give me a hint on this one i would appreciate it

here is my story:

i just successfully installed Leo4All v3

everything went just fine

i have an Asus p5k SE

i had to install the Attansic LAN driver and i was good to go

I also installed the right Nvidia kexts

After booting up my resolution was something like 1200x.... 4x3 which was looking weird on my widescreen

whenever i try to modify it by going to Sys Pref > Display the screen goes blue, but it doesn't crash it just changes the background somehow, all my windows disappear and i cannot get back to anything, my monitor goes " auto adjusting.." and that's it and i have to reboot the machine. Maybe there is a way but since i am a noob :) i don't know it

I mention that i don't touch anything, just by simply going there the screen does what i just described

It got worse when i tried to force a resolution by modifying the com.apple.plist

I did it :P but now it starts to boot but it restarts .

Now :

How can i get back into the OS and restore at least the minimum resolution that i have before?

How can i modify the resolution whithout losing everything

Thank you !

boot in -s and delete GeF* and NV* in /System/Library/Extensions. (or move them elsewhere).

Can you use the other DVI (or VGA) port ? It should fix your problem. If you can't for whatever reason, give me the NVCAP value you are using (should be in natit/nvinject or whatever you are using) and i'll edit it to it works fine with the DVI (or VGA) plug you are using RIGHT NOW.

Hi

thank you

i would gladly do what you told me but i can't :(

boot -s doesn't help

it doesn't want to boot

is there a switch that i can use to boot "safe mode" ?

i tried v,r.f

i haven't try -x yet as i had to leave to work

and if eventually if i can boot properly where can i get the nvinject info ?

i really appreciate your help!!

ps:

maybe that will help to understand what happened

i installed the drivers by running the nvinstaller and then downloading the proper kext from here( followed a different thread)

then i modified com.apple.plist, added the graphics string for 1600x1020x32

and then the dark :D

rememeber you're dealing with a noob with some nix knowledge, i installed/run some nix distros but i never touched a Mac

Fixed

well... sort of

i managed to boot in safe mode, removed what i added in boot.plist

still when i try to change resolution it plays tricks on me

i managed to click fast, very fast, in a second , on the resolution i wanted, reboot

and now its ok

but i cant figure out why it is doing this

  • 2 weeks later...

For 8400GS I installed Kalyway 10.5.2 with no graphics drivers chosen.

Installed NVKUSH and then the Apple Graphics Update 1.0.

Apple Graphics Update alone would cause a kernel panic on boot, NVKUSH alone wasn't enough to get the card going.

So install them both before rebooting.

QE/CI enabled and it recognized my 1440x900 screen on the DVI port.

Didn't try the VGA port.

Diabolik's NVKUSH can be found here: http://diabolik1605.com/DHF

Grab the apple graphics update from apple.com (type in apple graphics update in the search).
