Wide Screen Resolution

I have the Dell 2405 LCD with a native resoltuion of 1920x1200.

Now, I have 10.4.5 installed and with it, I want to use an ATI card. I can get the ATI card working at 1600x1200 through the command line but nothing above and beyond that. The GMA950 also works at 1600x1200 through command line but not beyond that. However, DisplayConfigX allows me 1920x1200 with the Intel GMA950 but not with the ATI card.

The difference in Image Quality between the ATI and GMA950 is a LOT. The GMA950 looks really washed out whereas the ATI card has sharp, crisp display. I prefer using the ATI at 1600x1200 than the GMA at 1920x1200 but is there a way to make the ATI card work at 1920x1200. DisplayConfigX doesnt allow me to enter the desktop with the ATI card and I get stuck at the plain ble screen- however the cursor moves.

Thanks

I'm having the same issue with my x700 and dell 2405fpw... I got it to work with the 9700 driver patch on an updated 10.4.6 install, but it won't go into 1920X1200. I have it set to 1920X1200 but it goes into standard aspect 1600X1200. I would think it was a limitation of the device that the driver was written for, however, when I accidentally typed in 1920X1600 I think it worked. I say *think* because my monitor said that the resolution was not supported. I have no way of verifying...

Could this be a problem with OS X not recognising the monitor as a wide-aspect? Is there anywhere to tinker with the monitor profile? There must be something telling OS X to go to standard aspect.
