881222
I have an ASUS A8JP (X1700 mobility) and I get my graphic card work fully(thanks to righteye, thehuan and others who have helped me). But there is a big problem, my backlight is gone.(by this I mean by a lamp I can see the things on the screen, 1280*800 full resolution, QE/CI enabled, no tearing mouse. but without the backlight, they are dark). I think the problem is caused by Natitx1700.kext (ATIinject the same). Because without this file I can get my backlight QE/CI but resolution not good and I found tearing mouse. After reading some threads, I found something in common: for asus a8 laptops with x1700 or x1600 mobility, we can always get the graphic card into work by modifying three files:ATIinject(or natit), ATINDRV.kext and ATIRadeonx1000.kext. But the backlight is always switched off after the installation of the inject or natit file.(I think the power for backlight is switched off, because even the function keys that justify the backlight, which works when the inject is not installed, won't work after the installation of inject or natit). This is a pretty big problem cause there are so many A8 laptops and it does not seem that anyone has get it into work by solving the backlight problem. Is there anyone who can help us? I do believe this forum is our only hope. Thanks in advance!
sonnyjim
Hi, i have the same laptop as you (A8JP) and have encountered very similar problems. I have had a lot of trouble getting the X1700 to work as well. Do you think you could post the files that you used so that i can try them? I have also tried many of the files that have been posted, but have struggled to get any working. The closest i've been is to get a stripe covered screen which goes black after a couple seconds. It seems as if there are many people who can help but can't be bothered, as i have also made a post but no-one has replied.
mushr00m
i also have the same problem. through vnc i can see that i have full res, also with an external monitor. and i can see the screen on the display, but it is really dark and not usable. maybe it has something to do with acpi?
