Hi folks,

A Noobie here...I've got Leo4All v 2 running well on my Compaq Presario 1610 nx, AMD Athlon X2 3800+, NVidia 8500GT card with Nvinject drivers, boot from external USB drive.

Everything works great except no sound - No sound devices found despite loading AC97 kexts.

Anyone know of any working drivers for sound chip here? (device #4370 vendor 1002). Google has turned up nothing except dead links.

Thanks in advance.

Mo

still backing up data on the old compaq sr1750nx

maybe this can help get that driver working

http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/Audio

So, I used kexthelper program - it installed the kext and the sound card is now recognized by the OS. However, I still have no sound output. During startup, I get the message "cannot create codec device 1". Still trying to figure it out.

Finally got sound working - don't really know exactly how. Lots of EMI , poor sound quality - may have to resort to USB audio device.

OK - I have thrown in the towel on the audio - disabled it in bios and ordered the usb audio device from NewEgg (GWC 1550) for $20. I just connected it and it sounds great!

Easy as pie - easier than tearing my hair out.

Cheers.

I will have to do the same.

I managed to get it recognized after inserting the device ID in Slices posted drivers, but never actually got any sound.

Sorta off Topic but Did you ever manage to install OSX86 on an internal hard Drive or are you still running from A usb.( I had to do the Same)

Also I was wondering if you can list me what is working and what is not working on your rig.

Interesting...I was never able to install on internal drive either. In fact, I placed an SATA drive in the usb enclosure and booted from that. Then I tried to remove the SATA drive from the USB enclosure and reinsert into computer on SATA channel - no success.

I installed an ASUS WL-138g v2 wireless card (broadcom chip) - working beautifully - recognized as airport right away. Got it for $15 on Newegg.com

I haven't really put the computer through serious testing, but it appears that the IDE hard drives and Optical drives are working fine. I was unable to load Mac drivers for my Samsung CLP 510 Color Laser printer (VISE install program kep quitting).

Of course, I'm not using this rig for any mission-critical work, but it's fun to play around. I would, however, consider replacing MB and CPU with Intel C2D to get better compatibility. Good luck with your rig.

One more thing...machine refuses to boot if there is a PS2 keyboard or mouse attached. Must use USB! Go figure...
