Viscaria
There is a 10.4.4 DVD patch in the wild now, but I thought I'd rather role my own. I put everyone's favorite 10.4.5 Patch Solution into an OS X Installer pkg, and added it to the install disk. Small potatoes sure, but it's damn slick. I'm about to test it, but this should install 10.4.5 right off of the DVD (mind you I am booting the 10.4.3 DVD and installing 10.4.4 and 10.4.5 from there). newtrax
Could this also be used to upgrade an existing 10.4.3 Jas/maxxuss installation straight to 10.4.5?
fairaghi
Hi all, this stuff is already available in the usual demon site... I did it ! 30 minutes to install by scratch on my P4 2Ghz, issues only with my unsupported ATI Radeon 7500 (no CI, no QE, no GL !). Great stuff !! errandwolfe
I have some webspace with plenty of pipe I can use to host on at least until the torrents start picking up, PM me and we will discuss what you need. Would also appreciate it if you could go into a little more detail about what you actually did, how you are supposed to use it, and what is going on behind the scenes. darkip
Have you tested it yet? Does it work? It sounds a bit like the version on demon at the moment
Viscaria
Sorry for the curt description. What I have is a pkg that installs the Maxxuss 10.4.5 patch solution. It installs his version of AppleSMBIOS, the contents of Decrypted_Files (making running his replace.sh in single user mode unnesscarry) and Kernel-8.4.1, and it installs the AppleAC97Audio.kext, ApplePS2Controller.kext, IOATAFamily.kext, IONetworkingFamily.kext kernel extensions. It also placed a hacked kernel at /. Additionally I wrote modifications to OSInstall.mpkg to load the Apple 10.4.5 update and this after installing the base system. This is not an install DVD, but it is an integral part. My current solution is placing the 10.4.4 packages on the 10.4.3 DVD (with JaS's patch applied) with my package and the Apple 10.4.5 update package added. Apple's install scripts deal with caching the kexts, so there is no need for any single user booting unless you need to apply the AMD patch. Ooooooh, and it just finished booting to the system setup. Viscaria
After installing it boots into OS X like a charm! I still need to clean things up and add a proper postflight script to my pkg. I'll keep you posted here. Expect release late tonight or tomarrow morning.

errandwolfe
If we are going to reference to Demon, could we at least get an exact title for the torrent and possibly who posted it. There are so many patches, good and bad floating around on there, I think we should try to be more specific. Please do not post a link to the page, just give us title and user handle of who uploaded it that way we avoid any DMCA issues. Also like I said earlier if we need some TEMPORARY webspace to host this until the torrents start kicking, I can accomadate.
Technobob
Just look at what was posted for Mac in the last couple days and it's easy to find. It works by the way using 10.4.5 now with this patch.

errandwolfe
Just wondering, has anyone attempted to use this with a 10.4.4 system that is already up and running, would be curious if you could run it as an upgrade install. Won't be at my test box for a few hours, so if anyone out there has 10.4.4 backed up and is willing to take a shot, would love to hear the results. jya
Is it possible to install 10.4.5 without installing 10.4.4 first ? When I run the 10.4.5 Apple update on my installed 10.4.3, it tells me that this package can't be installed on this machine ... JY
Jezek
so this is basically an auto updater that upgrades your computer from 10.4.4. to 10.4.5?

jainer123
wow...viscaria, and everyone else, i can't begin to fathom how you guys are so creative and knowledgable with this stuff...I admire you and i'm jealous all at the same time! haha. I would love to help out with putting it out there if i can. I am just one person, but everybit helps right? And if you do use a swashbuckling or hellish method, i can at least get it from the former...i'm not registered on the hell site... thanks! Dankitymao
Wow...this looks great, I'd love to give it a try on my laptop...currently running 10.4.3, but I'd like to reinstall from the 10.4.4 DVD and patch up to 10.4.5...and this looks like the way to go! I'm also not welcome in hell though...any chance some swashbucklers could get ahold of this gem? And if not ... could someone give me a little hint as to where else I might be able to turn this up? Thanks much =)
Viscaria
Just to clarify, it's not posted anywhere yet. I still have to do a little testing before I'm releaseing anything. I've been sleeping all day (I'm on spring break) and I'm just getting back to work. And a little poll... I am aware that there is a 10.4.4 DVD patcher out there, and to be honest I haven't tried it. Is there interest in my patch as well? I'm going to finish this patch regardless, just out of self interest, but I am just a bit curious (egotsitical?).
