~pcwiz
I am trying again right now. Hopefully this time it will create a usable file EDIT: Its NOT working. I get a 533MB file now EDIT: I even redid the entire package. STILL the same problem. I have reason to believe that it is caused by one of the scripts.... TheWiiGuy
Well, the current installer is just about perfect even without QE. The problem is that I am getting weird screen artifacts. These appear in 10.5.2 and 10.5.3 but only with the 9800gtx driver installed. I'm pretty lost, any insight? I am also in no position in terms of know how to install PC-EFI and I'm pretty sure that means no GFX strings. EDIT: Oddly I reinstalled Leopard without a previous cersion of nvinject and the installer worked flawlessly! CI/QE worked great!

aqua-mac
Yes it should work but you will need to edit the name of your card and the memory amount depending on how much memory your card has.

EVGA 9800 GTS 512MB Superclockt. Follow these instructions to the letter. You will need 10.5.3 minimum or 10.5.2 with my 10.5.4 kexts. What installation do you have? aqua-mac
Did you repair your permissions correctly. You should download this file and run it. Leave it for a few minutes to work. Did you look in your extensions folder and delete nvinject or natit if they are there. Then follow my walkthrough.
tricade
ok ... iam a noob so i run the setup of this post thats it ^^
aqua-mac
Follow this walkthrough here. Forget the installer, more people have had success with GFX strings with this card. Create your own GFX string by following my walkthrough, it is not difficult. If you run the part of the walkthrough where you find the PCI address of your card/motherboard, I can make the boot.plist for you. We need to find your cards PCI address, I cannot do that part for you as I do not have your hardware. Let me know what it is.

aqua-mac
So did you delete natit and nvinject from your extensions folder? Download these kexts and then manually put them in your extensions folder. Then repair permissions with this. Leave it to run for a while. Then go to System/Library and delete Extensions.mkext. Then reboot.

Fergo
Hello. I've tested the installer and the installation went well. After the reboot my mouse locks at the top-left corner. I don't know exactly what I did but I managed to make the mouse move again, but when I tested the system with the OpenGL test tool, it was still using Apple Software Renderer (and getting <20fps in the cube test =/). Any ideas? Regards, Fergo
celtikmind
Has anyone else had stability or other problems in fullscreen applications using this or manual EFI strings? Everything appears to be working normally on the desktop and in i.e. sketchup etc. But in several games (AoE3, TR:A etc.) there seems to be some problem with heat, fan and clocks which results in a hard lockup. In Windows (with supported drivers) the card works fine in even higher clocks than in OS X where it overheats. Lowering the clocks then it just takes a little longer. Suggestions or perhaps the 9800GTX isn't as compatible as it appears at first? Edit: See this post for more info concerning a BIOS flaw on some cards.
