MVE82
I am having a problem with the Bluetooth on my hackintosh. I am running Kalyway 10.5.2 and up untill last night my bluetooth was running perfectly and iSync was fine as well when syncing to my phone. I installed an additional HD in my machine to install Vista 64bit and got that working without a hitch. Whilst I was in Vista I updated my BIOS to lastest firmware (seeing as it was nearly 12 months out of date) I am booting between the Leopard and Vista via my BIOS hd boot options. Both are using AHCI. ...So after installing Vista I booted back into Leopard to find that the Bluetooth dongle has stopped working - it is still working in Vista. I have tried another Bluetooth dongle and that doesnt work either. In my menu bar at the top of the screen the bluetooth logo has a small cross through it and when I click on it, it says "Bluetooth: Not Available" Can anyone help me out? Everything else is working perfectly otherwise (apart from sleep, restart and shutdown - but I can live with that for the moment) Thanks everyone. MVE82
Update: I have installed Kalyway 10.5.2 onto an external HD and booted up into that and the Bluetooth is working so it basically means that there is a problem with my installation of leopard on my internal HD. Does anyone have any ideas how to copy the configuration files from the fresh install onto my broken leopard install in order to get it to work again? Thanks. kylegypo
Im getting the same problem on my Dells xps420, also running kalyway. I decided I didn't need my windows partion any more so formated it to use on my hackintosh... then bluetooth stopped working. The bluetooth device is built in and is also a card reader. the card reader works and the bluetooth device is detected as when i unplug it the bluetooth icon disappears from the top bar. but it says "bluetooth: Off" Any ideas? MVE82
I sorted it in the end. I just reinstalled over the top of my installation, it retained all my apps and settings but must have refreshed some of the system prefs and files. It works flawlessly now. HOWEVER, now my system seems to have a issue inumerating USB devices unless they were plugged in at startup - think, iPod nano 3g, card reader, flashdrive. Tis quite frustrating. kylegypo
This may sound a weird fix but I finally fixed it. I was bored and browsing the apps. I opened iSync and it asked if i want to turn bluetooth on.... so I clicked yes. Works
kylegypo
After restart my bluetooth stopped working again. and iSync no longer asked if i would like to turn bluetooth on, just told me it was off. i'd been using salling clicker with my bluetooth phone and luckily when I opened that and searched for a new device it then asked if i wanted to turn bluetooth on. MacUser2525
Well if you changed nothing but the BIOS then I would think a revert to old one is in order if it starts working then you have found your solution.

MacUser2525
Well worth a try anyways kind of sucks though, I have no clue about Bluetooth so I doubt I can be of any more help on this one.
triptolemos
Since bluetooth also stopped working on a different install (same machine) after the bios update, i think it's sfe to say the bios update caused the problem. A reinstall of OSX fixes it, but I still wonder what causes a bios update to break BT.

RepoMonkey
Another BT dongle failure here. Was working fine - now it's suddenly stopped - hadn't installed any updates or BIOS upgrades or anything really. It flashes like its working but I can't turn it on in the bluetooth preferences panel and a reboot doesn't cure it. Very weird. Update: Solved. Delete Library > Preferences > com.apple.Bluetooth.plist and then reboot. Means you have to pair stuff up again - but it does fix it.
