Is the EVGA GeForce 8800 GTS Video Card - 640MB GDDR3, PCI Express, SLI Ready, (Dual Link) Dual DVI, HDTV, Video Card Compatible with OSX? The 512MB version is on the list, but I am skeptical about obtaining the 640MB version because it is not on the supported list. Has anyone tested this card yet?

yes, it will work, but stay away from the g80 based 8800gts and get a g92 based 8800gts or 8800gt. the g80 8800gts (320M and 640M) are even slower than a 8800GT and the 8800GT costs less and is cooler.

oops I bought the g80 version used on ebay and installed it in my HP dx2200 the seller told me it was a g80 but I really did not understand. I had a friend help me install it but the computer does not find it when I try to go to the EVGA site to update the drivers can somebody help me with it. It seems to be working because I disabled the ATI Radeon 200 express card and I am plugged into the eVGA 8800 gts card and it works but when I try any driver updates or overclock updates I get an error message that says that it is not supported or something to the effect that I do not have the video card what can I do? It is a big card but I had an available pci express slot and I wanted to upgrade to Vista Ultimate and I have Window Professional sp2 preloaded. Advise?mine is a g80 640 mb eVGA 8800 gts card that I need help with.

Do you mean that these cards have problems in leopard and therefore are not good? or do you mean like, if you want to buy one now, don't buy the g80 but buy the newer one because that ones a bit cooler and faster? even cheaper.

I have a G80 core 8800gts 640mb and this card is very good, unfortunately it has problems installing in Leo4all v3

the g80s work fine in leopard, however the g92 is faster, cheaper and smaller (less heat/noise). the advice was only based on if you were buying a new card since most new g80s actually sell for quite a bit more than a g92 8800gt.

I used to have the 8800 640M version (g80) installed on Kalyway 10.5.2 and it worked fine. I was able to play Unreal Tounament 2004 and everything was very smooth. But like they said above, if you have a choice in between a G80 (8800 GTS 640M version) and the G92 (8800GT 512M version or 8800GTS 512M version) then go with the G92. It's better hands down.

The fact that you are seeing Core Image and QE as being support and hardware accelerated means it is working right. If it is crashing that is most certainly out of my league of support though as I'm a newb when it comes to OSX86

I have this same card running iAtkos v5 and updated to 10.5.6. I'm having problems getting QE working though. Any help would be appreciated.

FWIW, my 8800GTS 640Mb works fine @ 1900 x 1200 with QE/CI.

I can't tell you how, because I just installed the standard nvinject drivers on the install DVD. Once I installed the 640Mb version on iDeneb 10.5.6 and on iAtkos v7 I just installed the nvinject (no version) from the install menu.

Go figure!
