It's great that this issue has been addressed to some degree of success with intel GMA owners.

But may i please ask that owners of nvidia 7600go who have this successfully working using a hack of sorts please post how.

Or if there are some great minds out there that could please help out or at least give a basic run through of how nvidia owners code obtain their own pci lcd registers for testing ?

Thanks in advance!

Any sucess with X3100?

Turbo stated on his website that he has developed a driver. Does anyone have this? I wrote an email to him, if he replies I will quote here.

found this on another site, read hagglebeefs posts. Apparently they've found a rudimentary way to change backlight. http://ipis-osx.wiki...ghtness-control

Hi all,
following the idea from idoc, I patched my GMAX3100FB in order use brightness (for now I can only set the value using Reggie SE or a bash script with setpci, please read what cele_82 wrote, no Fn keys working yet).

Please note that it's for SnowLeopard 10.6.2 and ONLY for 32bit (the 64bit part is not present)

Hope this can help, I have a Sony VAIO VGN-FZ19VN.
Enjoy

Could you upload a diff? This works perfect on an HP 6720s, the brightness call is handled by pure ACPI so it works great (you don't get the apple's brightness slide bar, but it's fine).

Our keys Fn+F7 and Fn+F8 do the job.

Did anyone have some progress with a little app to adjust brightness?
The setpci command works perfectly for me (Vaio VPC-W), and for now I'm just using automator shortcuts to run the commands to set 10% or 100%. It would be good if there was a little status bar app to tweak the setting (beyond my coding skills sorry).

Same question for me. I'm working with Lion however. What would be the setpci command to controll the backlight for this Graphics Card?

I have brightness and QE/CI working on my x3100 as well. With the slider bar and onscreen brightness icon when changing brightness. Only problem is key mapping. I can only lower the brightness with the keyboard, I can't increase it. I have to go to the display preferences to fix this. I wonder if there is a way to modify the keyboard mapping to fix this.

So I got it working great. My brightness keys are Scroll Lock (Dimmer) and Pause/Break (Brighter). I blended two ApplePS2Controller file together. (Used the mouse and trackpad from one (for REAL 2finger scrolling that I got from an hpmini site made by merklot, [not that voodoops2 {censored}]) and I used the ApplePS2Keyboard from voodoops2 and put all of that in the plugin folder for the merklot PS2Controller and got it working that way. I'm sure there are other methods but this one is close to the real thing.

So in summary, display prefs slider works, brightness keys work, and the brightness thing comes on the display when i change it.

What I did

-Used an ApplePS2Controller.kext made by merklot http://www.mydellmin...ad-drivers.html
-Put ApplePS2Keyboard.kext from VoodooPS2 (ApplePS2Controller.kext/plugins/ApplePS2Keyboard.kext) from here http://www.insanelym...howtopic=175372 into the merklot ApplePS2Controller.kext/Plugins/
-Used a DSDT Edit (adding brightness, edit is found in the program) with DSDTSe found here http://www.osx86.es/?p=610

Repair permissions and reboot

don't forget to chown -R root:wheel and chmod -R 755 on any kext you put in the extensions folder. Works if you put it in extra/extensions as well.

Working on a Fujitsu T4220 Tablet PC with x3100 rev 03 dev 2a02

If you have this laptop DSDT dump doesn't really work on OSX. You need Phoenix bios editor and pull it out of a bios update from the fujitsu website and edit that dsdt to see any changes. Working on getting sound working properly (audio switching with headphones) otherwise everything works its just annoying to keep changing outputs in the system prefs.

I'm trying to get my ThinkPad x61 tablet running 10.6.8 --- I managed to get it installed once, but couldn't get the tablet/stylus working.

After applying the combo updater my screen goes dark, I hope because of some simple problem --- usually I can hear that the system is running by adjusting the volume.

The clue would seem to be the message amount invalid max firmware screen brightness --- interestingly, if I turn down the screen brightness then it gets turned back up to maximum just before the grey loading screen is dismissed.

I really need to figure out how to get the screen flashing blue again and then loading the system again....
