At first I started with G5 Mod and it come out fine without cutting the case at the back.

Well this time i am working on a Mac Pro case and my aim is to accommodate all the ports a the back with out cutting the case. So far I have manage to stripe the normal PSU so I that it can fit at the same spot as the Mac Pro.

I first tried the PSU with the fan and I did not like it at all

So I totally striped it and glued in 4 mounts to the PSU bay, then fitted a 120mm fan on the grill dividing the PSU and the optical drives, this fan blows towards the Power supply.

I pulled out the original Mother board mounts and repositioned and glued in positions that allowed all the PCI and PCIe cards to be just in place.

I will upload more Images as soon as I add or take off anything from the mod. For now I am working on getting the front panel to work so far the power Button and one USB port are working thanks to Aquamac.

nice work;)

How long did it take you?

And how much did you pay for the mac pro case?

I can not say the length of time it took me to do this because its not finished yet the back ports are not done yet.

The case cost about £200 and I Also bought another one one ebay for £150 I will be selling it for the same amount.

Nice work.Nice CPU cooler, I have the non-Extreme version wiht the 4 heatpipes. These things are beasts. Are those Yate-Loon fans in the front?
The CPU cooler is not that bad it manages to keep the 4 cores below 50 degrees. The front are Akasa AK-183-L2B 120mm Amber Fan

The Front panel is fully working now I am working on the back ports, also I have changed the way I had done the wiring.

Really taking shape mate, good work... You have approached a few things a little different.... I removed the Fan mount between the PSU and Drive Bay.. (needed to fit my Hiper) also the Apple SATA quick release dooo daaars... I removed all of them.. I had intended to use AquaMacs design and mod them so they run off one Molex but i never got round to it..

Was it the Belkin you bought of eBay or the £30 PciX card that ran on the same chip? (would love the dark blue PCB).

if you look to the right of this last image you will see the back USB ports connected to the

M/B

How you attached the harddisk power and SATA cables ?

Used the existing apple's installation ?

Thanx.

Yes I used the existing apple SATA connectors but modified on one end, I will post the image of the cable if you want.

For any one in the UK I think I have got the SATA to USB cable laying around somewhere and I know it works.

This is how I connected the network ports as well. I used the onboard ethernet and an old ethernet card which I modified a bit, it can only be seen from inside the case

here it is

then the two female ethernet connectors glued together

a view from the inside, here I removed the parallel, serial and VGA ports from the motherboard to create room for the network socket

finally view from outside with one port in use.
