I'm connected to my airport extreme via ethernet and i can't seem to find any other computer on my network nor can i 'see' the airport extreme when i scan for it using airport utility. I can get onto the internet fine but i can't find the airport...I need to do this so i can access the printer that's hooked up to it. Does anyone know why this is happening?? Very, very thankful if anyone can hep!

Hello, I have the same issue..my fix

1. Launch Airport Utility on your hackint0sh.

2. Go to File > Configure Other

3. In Address type the IP address for your router [Airport Extreme], in password type your router password.

EXAMPLE:

Enter the address and password:

Address: 192.168.1.1

Password: password

TaDa!

enjoy

Just curious if anyone can say why this method works, but "scanning" for base station does not? It's a minor annoyance, but I wonder why. For me, it's just one of those little things that reminds me I'm running a hack and not a true system.

im having the same problem also.

I have two other genuine Macbooks on the network that don't have the same problems.

Airport utility cant find my Airport Extreme Base Station or my Airport Express. iTunes can find my Airtunes Speakers.

I can ping and use 'Configure Other' to access both of them so it seems to me like its a Bonjour issue to me.

I tried downloading Bonjour Browser to see if they show up and they dont on my Hack Pro.

Has any one else had any luck with this? Why would Bonjour not be working for these devices only?

Or is Apple getting wise and stopping their other hardware from talking to suspicious 'Apple' computers?

I had a very similar problem and after much searching, found several references accusing Bonjour of being the culprit.

After removing Bonjour, the file dnssd.dll was missing, so Airport Util would not start, so I removed that and reinstalled both programs. I installed AP Util first and then Bonjour.

After rebooting my computer my problem was solved.

My specific problem was on a Win 7 PC. When plugged in I could print to my Bonjour printer and I could see all Airports (Extreme & Express) in Airport Util, but when wireless I could see nothing. I believe I could use my AP Express speakers in iTunes, but not 100% as I usually play them on my mac, not my PC. After reinstalling and rebooting everything was back to normal. Perhaps the problem has something to do with that .dll file getting corrupted? During this time I could see everything on my mac wired or wireless and all was good, so I knew I had a functional system, and assumed it was specific to the PC.
