Full Version: Firewire card post-install

I've got 10.5.1 working fine. However, when I was first attempting the installation, the firewire card I purchased initially was not compatible. Since, I didn't need it at the time I took it out and installed without it. Well, I'm going to be picking up a firewire based soundcard soon and I'm going to need to install a new firewire card (based on recomendations here on which cards work).

My question is...Can I install the card without having to reinstall OS X? I've installed a firewire card before on XP and it recognized the new card without any drivers and it worked right away. I realize all cards are different and I may or may not need the supplied drivers. I'm just trying to anticipate how OS X is going to react.

Thanks!!

Once I found the firewire worked on my Audigy I took a Dynex 3 port card with the Augere L-FW323-6 chipset on it I had laying around put it in and it just worked without me doing anything about it.
