Hey brothers in arms...
Can anyone with a "MacPro2,1" please confirm what chipset it has. I've been told it's an intel 5000X (GreenCreek); I would like to have this confirmed. CPU-Z if you have windows installed. I would like to install Harpertowns on my board but I'm not sure if anyone has had any success. Intel's white pages confirms 5000X support for Harpertown. It seems like NO ONE, absolutely NO ONE has every tried this; I searched all over the internet in dismay, I really find it hard to believe. Any insight is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I would say you almost definately can't do this but good luck smile.gif

If you do it then you should definately do a clean install.

Thanks... but can anyone provide concrete facts / proof, not just hearsay or speculation? Is this such a difficult topic to resolve? Video card and BSEL chip mods have so easily been tried and talked about but not this... arrrrggghhhh.. Everyone talks about Lists1.com comment on the Harpertown not booting; one thing his original posting on oOo.com's failed to mention which I straightened out with him was that his Logic Board is a first version "MacPro1,1". Thanks Lists1 for your insight.
