I'll have in short an old PowerBook G4 15" 1.5GHz but with missing install DVD's. Can I use those from a friend's PowerMac G5 Dual 2.7GHz or the installation is hardware dependent? Hope doesn't sound that stupid, but that's what I just heard as a rumor that I might not be able to do this

They mostly are Hardware Dependent, but can be easily converted to retail. There is a guide for this on Wikipedia!!

I arrived at this thread via a Google search looking for a way to convert machine-specific discs to retail versions. If you have a link to such an article, I would be very interested to see it.
