I'm using a Lian-Li PC-V600 silver aluminum case, and while things are pretty tight inside the case, I'm maintaining decent temperatures. My home office has poor air circulation (and lousy A/C), and with two cheap "cyclone blowers" in the pci slots plus the onboard fans, I'm doing just fine. I wanted this case for it's cheese-grater G5 Mac Pro look, and I'm seriously happy with this decision.
Otherwise, I cannot get Leopard to support 8 GB DDR2 667MHz (bargain) Crucial RAM. It does fine with 6GB and 6.5GB, but anything beyond that causes the "You need to restart your mac" message immediately following the OS load. I've moved around that final 2GB stick to several slots and that has no effect, so I'm thinking either that one stick of 2GB is bad or Leopard can't do 8GB in this config. EDIT: Yup, it was just a bad stick. I'm running 8GB just fine now.

Summary
It's a great Desktop..(it last's on a 4 cell for 45 mins, maybe 1.5 hours on 6 cell) Works very well and is a good experience (I have used mobile me with it and set up Time machine via my Airport Extreme for backups)...It's snappy and I consider it fully functional just not as a laptop but you cant have it all. If I paid for the CoolBook app I could probably throttle and get some more battery life....

Tried iaktos 2.0i, iatkos4, and Leo4allv3 and Leo4allv4 beta, but never got any but kaly to work
Note initially I used a IDE DVD drive on cable select and always got the "waiting for root" problem until I jumpered it to master

I tried every kernel on Leo4all & Iatkos releases, and each one froze in a different place. Only Kalyway 10.5.2 with speedstep was successful.
Tried vanilla kernel with a normal apple update and got kernel fauls...looks like "combo" updates for me for now.

Under Advanced Chipset CPU Configuration:
Limit CPUID MaxValue Disabled, Intel SpeedStep Disabled, Exceute Disable Bit Enabled, Both cores enabled
Integrated Peripherals: All enabled except RAID (it could work, I just didnt try it, only one SATA hard drive)
Audio: Works out of the box? Yes. AlthoughI did a custom install, I did not change the default driver selections for audio.
LAN: Works out of the box? No, not yet. I added the Marvel, and nforce and forcedeth drivers on the custom install. Ethernet is detected but always shows cable unplugged.
I'll try some patching and post any new findings.
Update:
I tried 5 vatiations of the forcedeth drivers, but the best I could get was "ethernet cable not plugged in". I put in a 3Com905 series PCI card and it was instantly recognized. I did disable onboard MAC LAN in bios before booting with the new card.
SATA & IDE: Works out of the box? Yes, however I have SATA raid disabled, so unknown if it works.

I tried every kernel on Leo4all & Iatkos releases, and each one froze in a different place. Only Kalyway 10.5.2 with speedstep was successful.
Tried vanilla kernel with a normal apple update and got kernel fauls...looks like "combo" updates for me for now.

Here are what I think are most of the changes I made from factory default. If you happen to have the same board and run into trouble, ping me and I may respond with my full bios settings. (I don't log in often, so it could be a awhile).

Audio: Works out of the box? Yes. AlthoughI did a custom install, I did not change the default driver selections for audio.
LAN: Works out of the box? No, not yet. I added the Marvel, and nforce and forcedeth drivers on the custom install. Ethernet is detected but always shows cable unplugged.
I'll try some patching and post any new findings.
Update:
I tried 5 vatiations of the forcedeth drivers, but the best I could get was "ethernet cable not plugged in". I put in a 3Com905 series PCI card and it was instantly recognized. I did disable onboard MAC LAN in bios before booting with the new card.
SATA & IDE: Works out of the box? Yes, however I have SATA raid disabled, so unknown if it works.

NOTES ON EXPERIENCE: Before i upgraded my Video card i did well above 15 install on board vido was making everything very slow i upgrade it with 256 mb xfx gtXXX and i also upgraded my power adapter because video card was asking min 400 watt source. Before my video card my PS/2 mouse and keyboard was working fine in some installation and not working in some installations. I bought a $2.95 deal inland USB keyboard from Microcenter and exchange my wireless USB Mouse from my labtop. Currently it boot faster than my XP and System respons is very fast. It is a dual boot by using Mac's boot manager /program Mac found my XP PRo and if i do F10 i can go to boot options and select HD then XP or if wait and skip F10 screen then it boots and ask me if i have any option if i hit any button it gives me XP or MAc option.

I should add that asus, and Foxconn build the pcs for apple, and the other thing that is differant is the bios. So mac minis are all intel 945 chipsets, other macs are P31 and up. The mac pros true chipset is a server chitset due to the dual processor boards. i hope this litte bit helps use find better boards that work.

Kalyway 10.5.2 intel amd dvd, Gparted Live 0.3.7-7, Hiren's Boot CD 9.5, Dual boot - chain0 system.
guides used from OSx86 Wiki, as well as the kalyway dvd discription thingy. i also forgot to install some drivers and also did not install correct drivers at one point. honestly, i am a noob at this, and took me about 5 times to install it correctly.

Well, it took several trial installs but now I have a fully functional and stable Leopard box!

2) Started with iAktos v4i DVD (no special options at boot)
3) Partitioned hard drives: Single partition each, MBR, Mac OS Extended (Journaled) filesystem
4) Chose Custom install options:
4a) Deselected Darwin Bootloader
4b) Additional Patches, chose Darwin X86 for MBR, Kernel 9.2.0 ToH options, and SMBIOS->AppleSMBIOS netkas
4c) Chose Remove Thermal kexts
4d) In Drivers, chose VGA->nVidia->NVinject->512MB, System->SATA, and Network->Intel Pro/100 VE
5) Booted into O/S with fully-functional LAN and audio, limited vidio (no QE/CI)
6) After install, ran NVinstaller v5.2 for QE/CI support
7) Installed Apple updates successfully with no adverse effects
8) Optional: Configured VNC screen sharing, disabled sleep mode, and enabled SMB file sharing successfully
9) Optional: Updated kernel to ToH/StageXNU 9.4.0 (used OSx86 Tools 1.0.149)
Tested with:

@ start options, I typed -v -x. DID NOT install graphics,audio drivers. Used default kernel because I was getting kernel panic w/ restart. It was probably the drivers that were causing it and not the kernel but I have not tested any further.
