[OFFTOPIC]@oopsjeffrey: try installing dfrivers with this method for XP http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool/ [/OFFTOPIC]

Anyway i'm seriously thinking that there are many revision chips of X2300...Conitnue to test mine kext or steps in other model of laptops with X2300!
sinnsyk
what did u change in your .kext that you are offering for download? Perhaps we can learn from that...

[offtopic] is it a good idea to make a 15 GB MacOSX partition, and an 30 GB fat32 partition to be shared? My vista disk is now 56 GB and almost full, AND NTFS. The mac install can't read that and it's a complex job of transferring large files from vista to mac... [/offtopic]

Ok, i have been reading and reading, about our x2300, the second display and others solutions...

This is what i have find:

Our X2300 is a model lifted from the 1450, so even we can find the way to add now our id to x1000 kext, the framebuffer is different from old 1450, maybe we have to try with Callisto framebuffer??. I will try, but first i need a ATIinject or a NAtit that is compatible with 1450, please help me on this.

The second display is not Hardware enabled on boot, need software in order to work , so is nearly impossible to make it work till we find the NAtit or Atiinject the recognizes or model. Correct me if im wrong.

People has report the paperclip method on the vga out to make x1450 works, i havent try yet, but if ATIx2300 second monitor is software enabled, i dont know if this solution will really work....

Im still trying Natits, Atiinjects, and only get black/frozen screen...
WIll post what i find.

CicloneFr, we apreciate so much your help, please continue giving us clues to make this framebuffer works. smile.gif
sinnsyk
i think this site could be usefull about understanding how the mac OSX handles the buffers and the Core Graphics etc... it's only for mac OSX 10.4, but maybe we can learn something. Didn't read the whole article though, but what i've read was pretty interesting:

Yes. Kalyway 10.5.1+ Kalyway Update 10.5.2. Resolution screen 1024x768
sinnsyk
it would work with iATKOS too but the videodriver does not respond very well. but with 1024 / 768 it works.
I'm gonna try my Philips 220WS8FB 22" monitor tomorrow hope that works tongue.gif

Hard enough,challenge indeed!

I managed to get CI/QE working but the resolution is killing me, i didn't buy a widescreen to work with 1024/768 tongue.gif
bubble_gum
using this method i managed CI & QE enabled for my ATI mobility radeon x2300 on vaio vgn-cr11zr, but there are some artefacts appear during work. somebody have an issue of that? resolution 1280x800 after editing startup strings

UPD: use mouse locator to remove artefacts, after installing it everything is OK smile.gif

Hey man, look at yourself because this version works FULLY, only the resolution is the problem, but i think that getting CI/QE working either @ 1024x768 is still good than having only software mode, didn't think that? Read carefully before talking...
sinnsyk
still, the resolution doesn;t work, so it's not a FULLY working kext, it's an QE/CI Enabling .kext tongue.gif

i hate this stupid card, i need widescreen tongue.gif wish i could program this myself or just replace my videocard with a better one... :S

Required dictionaries dont find <--- response from natit on loading.

My system:
10.5.2 Vanilla kernel

I think we will have to study whether the framebuffer from our x2300 belongs to the x2xxx family or not before make any change to that natit, but i dont know where to start looking for this, anyone knows?.

Hi all,
my girlfriend has a laptop Sony Vaio VGN-CR11Z with a Ati Mobility Radeon X2300 (Device ID: 0x718a); after the last graphic update, following this guide http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=69345 (thank to MacMan2007) and now I've CI and QE enabled thumbsup_anim.gif

Those are my steps:

- installed Iatkos 1.0r2
- updated with 10.5.2 (thanks to netkas.org's instructions)
- graphic update (from Software Update).
- edit /System/Library/Extensions/ATIRadeonX1000.kext/Contents/Info.plist
- replace the existing 0x71871002 with 0x718A1002
- with the program 0xED edit file /System/Library/Extensions/ATIRadeonX1000.kext/Contents/MacOS/ATIRadeonX1000
- Find: 8771 | Replace: 8A71 | Search Type: Hex, then hit Replace All. (should replace 2 incidences)
- Reboot with flag -f

and now IT WORKS!!!!!!! (For a more detailed instructions follow MacMan2007 guide ...)

However, you cannot change resolution from System Preferences,

but you must add those lines to your /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist

...
<key>Graphics Mode</key>
<string>"1280x800x32"</string>
...

I've also some mouse tearing, but now I can watch my dvd ... biggrin.gif

Np man ^^ Nope because i've got an ASUS laptop, not a Sony one...but if you have the last one you'll get working 1280x800. But i don't know if this is caused by model laptop of leopard distro i've tryied it with (i've used Zepyroth's one).

Anyway, put my kext and edit the info into boot plist and try ^^ it's the only way to see if it function smile.gif

F3JR works as described for other notebooks with the same hardware : Vista + OSX 10.52 , full hardware acceleration, mouse tearings , fixed resolution , no sound , no wifi , good ethernet and usb but you have to reboot to sense the cable and the usb device (no hot swap).
Will buy a Delkin USB wifi dongle and will search for a solution to the sound problem.

GTOnizuka
Hi all, just postng a curious test to do...if anyone wants smile.gif

My idea it's to use my ATIX1000 kext (modded for X2300) + ATIinject (with EDID) to try if we can get major resolution (i can not do it by myself because i think that EDID it's different for every pc, so if a i make a kext with my EDID, for example, it's not sure to work with yours and back). So with this test we can see if: 1) our EDID it's the same and 2) if we can unlock screen resolution (and maybe mouse tearings...).

I'll do them by myself after 9th of this month...until now i'll wait for your posts (just let me know if you succed or not and what is your computer, if ASUS, SONY, etc.).

...Waiting for you guys, try it ONLY in a test system... smile.gif
tqtyygtwwx
hey man ,
i see your display is ATI x2300,,you say you can work with QE/CI and can be change the resolution 1280x800x32

at last ,how to get resolution 1280x800x32???help me

my friend is ASUS F3jr I was get open QE/CI mouse tearing was fix it..but i can't get the resolution 1280x800x32

why??

I was Darwin bootloader com.apple.boot.plist.....add

<key>Boot Graphics</key>
<string>Yes</string>
<key>Graphics Mode</key>
<string>1280x800x32</string>

and GTOnizuka say~~may be the x2300 was open the QE/CI the resoltion was lock~~~beacuse I can change resolution///////

but why somebody can used the resolution 1280x800x32????
GTOnizuka
The answer is simple: the chipset of X2300 into Sony Vaios (because only there the resolution is unlocked) is different (i think) from our ASUS laptops, or mnaybe the monitor that they used is more compatible than ours. Or another time is motherboard chipset, how it use it or how osx use it...In fact the first post of this topic tell that he unlocked QI/CE for X2300 in sony vaios, but no one trust that it function on ALL x2300. Anyway i'm trying to get the differences to make a single kext (or a set of) to make this as simple as possible (for now we can unlock QI/CE that make the system more usable than software mode i think...).

I promise you that i'll do what i can to make this thing function. Only be patient and ask, tell or propouse something new to try, and remember: we can do anything if we want wink.gif

i've modified ATInject,
then i've installed ATInject and ATINDRV and got black screen.
i've also tried to use old ATINDRV (from 10.4) and original 10.5.2
tried to replace some settings like IONDRVDevice to IOPCIDevice etc ...
nothing changed

Thank you very much for your report, maybe we'll have to wait for next 10.5.3 relase to see if we will get something new for us...until now i think that we had tryied all and we had no result (apart QI/CE).

Thanks for all your time spent into this research with me and i hope we'll find a solution as soon as possible. Until there i wish you nice days smile.gif

Anybody test it with GFX-EFI?
Dainix
Sorry, but if this is based off the old X1000 series cards, all you're doing is beating a dead horse, because these problems have already been solved to the extent where anymore would require a driver rewrite.

To get QE/CI to work is simple. All that requires is adding the device ID of your card to its corresponding extension. External monitor support? Natit works wonders.

Because this is a mobile video card, everyone wants the capability of changing resolutions on the internal display. Nope. It will not happen.

The only driver with LVDS support is the Wormy driver. This driver works with the X1600, X1800, and X1900. It's not backwards compatible.

So I guess I'll say it like I did in the X1400 thread: The driver will display in VESA mode, and only in VESA mode, unless you find a way to include LVDS support in the core driver itself.
sinnsyk
i tried to install iATKOS v2.0i to see if that would work better, but all I got was a stopping loader and no macOSX. Didn't have much time to experiment but it was very strange. On iATKOS v1.2i (or something like that) it worked, but without the video card properly. I have an ASUS A8Jr...

stupid apple. Why not install an x2300 in macbooks and let us have fun with their OS too...
pere
ok, so wich Natit should we use to get the second monitor working??

Could this mean that this card is not a x1000 family card but an HD2000 family card and that HD drivers with a little bit of a tweaking could possibly work? I'm a complete driver-hackintosh-noob so i can't do anything with this info but i hope someone else could try this?

pere
Hi, Sinnik.
Thats the first think we tried, but its id (718A) belongs to x1350 family, maybe framebuffer belongs to an HD2xxx family, but no injector recognizes it like that, so the only way to get 1280x800 (and just on sony models) is hardcoding into boot.plist.
Now what will be nice is to make external monitor works, so if you want to help, you are wellcome.
Dainix
I used NatitX1300.kext to get my X1400 to work with an external monitor. If the HD2300 is based off of this chipset, give that a shot.
iMorocco
The Mobility HD2300 (7210) is in the exact same situation as X2300, it belongs to the X1000 family and uses Caretta. you get CI&QE 1024x768 with internal LCD but no resolution change.

Hi.
I have the internal LCD working with 3d and opengl, and 1280x800 resolution hardcoded into com.apple.boot.plist, if i use natit x1300 (or any other), then i got my lcd on a very nice black color and no output on external monitor, so i have tried to erase some options on natit so it will not affect the internal lcd and only give support to external, but no avail, does any of you know something can point me where to tweak?.
Thanks.
Dainix
While the computer is starting up, make sure that you redirect your display to the external one and keep the internal LCD blank. There should be a key combination on your keyboard that does that for you.
