Followed instructions, loaded kext, no details given, simply "kext loaded successfully"

Test system specs are in sig, but the audio is:

Codec: Analog Devices AD1988B
Vendor: 0x11d4189b
Subsystem: 0x104381f2

Tried doing a codec dump using an Ubuntu disc, with the command:
cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#0

Also just tried dropping the codec dump onto AppleHDAPatcherv1.20, but that just tells me "This codec is not working at the moment, it needs more research"

ALC862 is a new revision of ALC861-VD, AFAIK. There are differences, hence ALC862's new codec ID (ending in 862) - however, a lot of software, including ALSA, picks up the codec as an 861-VD. There's no such thing as an 862-VD according to Realtek, which is what some people have been referring to it as.

Sigmatel 9228 shows kext loading successfully... Although "macgirl" with the same laptop i have received results.. maybe I did something wrong..

All i get is "kextload: HDAudio.kext/ loaded successfully" on my P5B-Plus (AD1988) with HDAudio3.kext

Maybe if did something wrong... Let me know.

"Kext has no explicit kernel dependacies" is what i get
then "Kext Loaded Successfully"

also guys who arent getting a output

If you have you ownr linux codec dump, report if there is any difference on: Address and Subsystem

Not Detected Codecs Seems that itīs not detecting codecs that show Address 2 in linux dump (and maybe Address 1 also) I need to find a way to detect them as the new patcher will use this detection method. If I cannot detect a codec, the new patcher will not work with them a most worse, I cannot program the codec initialization. I hope to find whatīs wrong.

its simple - applications - disk utility - mark your mac os disk - click repair permissions smile.gif

if you want to know how to use CHMOD and CHOWN try to type in linux man chmod and man chown or try to get information from google;)

Strange, I got the exact same IDs on my HP 8710p laptop, the kext is loading correctly but NO codecs are being listed.

Maybe the difference is that my laptop is using another Audio BUS (controller) ?

Realtek ALC889A Audio controller on a GA-P35-DS3P (rev. 2.0)

Just reports the kext loaded successfully, and no other output.

Having said that, I can't get a correct linux dump either. While I get working sound in Mepis, the dump will show as 886 (iirc).

Hi, Taruga!

I'm using Analog Device 1988B codec.
All seeing nodes are exactly same as my linux codec dump.

But, some of nodes are missing.
(thats... 0b, 0c, 0d, 10, 19, 1f, 21, 23, 2c ~ End)

Can anybody please help me to create Audio codec dump from linux? I do not know anythinh in linux . A friend loaded redhat linux in my nx7300. It is with me now.

Is this kext supposed to add any new functionality or does it conglomerate older solutions into a single easy to use package. I will test next time I am in osx but I already have audio working now in Leopard with the old taruga ALC883 patch and don't want to fix something that ain't broken.

have you even googled for it?


In linux, look in /proc/asound to find a file called codec#0
in the terminal do: cat codec#0 > /tmp/codecdump.txt

you'll find it on the tmp directory

Another interesting thing is that with AppleAzaliaAudio kext I get volume controls enabed and HD Audio Output on the Output tab. However, the Mute button stays on and no sound.

Tried it on my T61 thinkpad with AD1984 (which is reported as a codec not recognized with 1.20, see the HDA results thread for the codec dump and other results).

Results of the kext 3 test are the kernel reported successfully loading the kext file, but there was NO other output at all. NADA.

Also same behaviour when using "AppleAzaliaAudio.kext" (and AppleHDA removed): I get volume controls enabled and HD Audio Output on the Output tab. However, the Mute button stays on and no sound. When pressing the Mute/Unmute HP key the mute checkbox in Sounds preferences also works but without any difference in sound (nothing can be heard).

Is the HDAudio5 kext already loading the correct codecs or are we supposed to still use the patcher to load them?
