Sorry for a dumb question...

i currently run a geforce 6150 which is only working in vesa mode and i´m thinking about getting a more supported card now..

could anyone tell me what QE and CI mean and if i would boost my performance?

thank you very much to clear this up smile.gif

Core Image and Quartz Extreme are ways for your PC to handle graphics without taking CPU cycles. It instead uses the GPU and VRAM on your video card to run anything video related, leaving your CPU open for other uses. It makes processing graphics on your display much, much faster.

Any video card above a GeForceFX 5200 or ATI Radeon 9600 should be more than enough when coming to supporting QE/CI.

as i only use this hackintosh for working (doing researches and litte gfx stuff), would it be a bottleneck if i buy a FX 5500 with 256mb ram for example?

maybe some1 could share his experience..

You should be fine with that. You'll find more success in getting the GeForce cards working 100% than the ATI cards.

I think a 7300GT will give you the most bang for your buck...
