Ok, I have two signatures here. One is a minimalistic style, and the other one is an "alien" kind of signature (to go matching even more with my avatar). The second "alien" style sig is not yet complete, and still major final touching work needs to be done, such as smoothing the jagged/aliased edges and what not. I personally like the 1st one by a hair...but I dont mind using the 2nd one. Thanks to xTc for the poll idea. hehe.
1. Minimalistic Style

2. Alien Style

Feel free to give suggestions on either ones.
Update 1: Changed the alien sig a bit...just the background gradient, plus the intake area (lowered the brightness a bit)

the second one looks better to me - and it does match your avatar - if you were going with the alien look then perhaps it would be best to taint the material slightly green to give that off world accent to it

I think now is a great time to point out that your signature image is really off limits. Can I ask why you need that massive area of white space? Anyway, can you try and scale it down so that the image is no bigger than
this?
By the way, nice sigs. I prefer the second one.

Sorry about that. I measured your linked image, and it's 608 x 100. I will try to re-design it so that it fits under that measurement.

Ok, I have been able to get it down from 722 x 234 to 567 x 182 (absolute max without messing up the design). The current updated one is in my sig. Is this alright? Its been centered, so its not using the white space..even though it looks like it is.

Like I said somewhere else, the first one is a bit too empty and the airintakes in the second one are great. Could u send me the psd file. I promise I wont use it for my sig, but I'm curious how u make the airintakes look so good. Or if u have a tutorial for this it would be greatly appreciated. Thx

Here you go, I attached the layered file. If anyone wants to use it for learning purposes, they can gladly "disect" it. BTW, the layers are not organized or anything...I kind of did them on the go.

They're both a bit over-the-top for me (of course, I don't have a signature

)

Ok I recommend u to disable the layer "Air Vent Top" and to increase the main gloss untill the Air intake starts.

There is one problem though, I actually cut the main gloss as soon as it hits the beveled frame coming from the intake. I was going to curve the gloss over the intake, but that does not look that realistic. What I could do is lower the opacity of the beveled frame, and make the intake area look matte.
BTW I still need to do the lights coming from the intake, I have no idea of how to approach that. I tried one method eariler...but that looked awful. I want something that looks like its working inside the "signature" with the radiance coming out. I was also going to add some wires and an air vent, nothing overkill, but just so it looks like this is one serious arse sig. lol.

It is serious now! But go ahead and show us the new version when ure done. Look at my sig, it is soo easy and simple...Maybe I make a new one. But not now.

Update:

Im not sure I'm really liking the lighting effect. I think it looks better without it. I dunno, I might leave it out, and add some wiring or some futuristic thing on it, or maybe make the front shield next to one of the intakes slightly transparent, so that you can see the mechanics inside, while still seeing the external shell...kind of like X-Ray vision, but only for one of the intakes. Ill do those later on. I think It looks good so far though.

I think the halo makes it it a bit to extreme looking. Make it look as though the vent is a "funnel" for the light.
