I have searched the forums in their entirety, like almost twice and I can't find what I am looking for. i found it once, but not again. I have an Intel board DG965ry with a Core 2 Duo e6400. I have had Mac OS X 10.4.8 installed before and i was able to do something that got my DVD-RW to recognize when set to AHCI.

The device ID i am using is 0x514D8086. I believe Vista reports it as an ICH8 device. I am using Device ID 0x11ab6101, and I either am not putting it in the right place or I can't remember where it goes exactly. I have tried to place it in IOATAFamily.kext plugin AppleIntelPIIX kext and nothing happens, it doesn't say anything exists except the two HDDs which loaded without modifying any kexts to begin with.

I know I got it working, I just don't know if I am missing something. Someone please help me by pointing to the forum topic that discusses this deeply. Or just outline it for me. I have everything else functioning I just need a DVD drive to recognize.

The board is an Intel DG965RY.

Nevermind. I found the solution after realizing I was using the wrong DevID.
