Depends on your soundcard... if it works with osx86, you should be fine. I'd suggest a firewire interface because it would be less prone to problems with your motherboard. I'm using Logic 7.1 with the Fireface 800 in a tubgirl version of OSx86 for amd and it's super smooth, faster/better than my macbook.

Hi, check my signature!!
I will do a "cubase benchmark" and compare the same project from XP to OSx on the same computer, to see which computer "brings" more!

you say ur using a firewire based mixing console?
if thats the case... then it doesnt matter about ur sound card really... as those consoles are generally Audio Interfaces themselves...
If all your firewire is working on ur OSX86 then i dont see why it should not work with it...
most firewire interfaces work driver free, or the company develops Mac drivers.... as we all know mac is where its at with audio
i could be wrong tho

I think the question was if it will be more stable in general with osx.
Which I can tell, now. It's stable, and a little, little bit better in performance than winXp
Of course his firewire based mixer will work with osx if there are drivers present. pro audio cards (which as guinni says are the same as firewire based mixers) usually have osx drivers. so as long as the firewire ports are working it will work.

Hi can anyone help me. I have my fireface installed on a 10.4.8 jas. The fireface works but it keeps changing sample rate. I think i saw something similar on the forum but i cant seem to find it again. I have a dual opteron and everything else works lika a charm......

Which Fireface 800 or 400? Also, is it connected by firewire 800 or 400?
Seriously though, I would say get the new drivers and reinstall (also check for better firewire drivers for your mobo). If that doesn't work, look into possibly a new firewire card (I use a PCI firewire 800 card). I'm also running an opteron/nF4 setup on 10.4.8 with a fireface 800 and it works like a charm.

Has anyone tried using an Echo Mia PCI card in OSx86?
I have the old Echo Mia card with the 4 1/4" jacks and two SPDIF jacks (red/white). It's awesome paired with a decent mixer for recording live audio. But it's in my G4 tower... I guess I should look for Intel extensions for the Echo card, eh?
If it works in my hack rig then I will be using it for my main computer. Woot
