I tried connecting to my site's ftp server today, but I found something interesting. When I select "Go" from the Finder menu, select "Connect to Server," enter the appropriate server information, and hit the "Connect" button, nothing happens.

I haven't tried connecting and mounting a server since before I upgraded to 10.4.9. I have no idea what's causing the problem. I don't get an error or anything. It's as if the "Connect" button was just dead.

Here's some additional info:

- Running 10.4.9 with the latest Netkas kernel release
- I have a few AppleTV frameworks installed to allow myself to run AppleTV
- I use the Netkas patched 10.4.9 loginwindow
- All files on my computer that point to an FTP address automatically open Transmit. I tried removing Transmit, and my system returns "error -39" when Finder tries to open such a file.

I'm stumped. Any suggestions would be appreciated. It's not a typo in the server entry field. If it was, it would at least turn up an error if it was actually trying to connect.

Ok problem fixed.

It turns out most 10.4.9 installations on hackintoshes can't connect to FTP servers or use file sharing with Windows via a network. Jas released a patch that came with the 10.4.9 Combo Update he made, and it worked beautifully.

The patch was made for 10.4.7 installations that had broken network server mounting. Since mounting worked for me up til 10.4.8 without patches, maybe I'll just manually patch it myself with 10.4.8 files now that I know which files cause the problem.
