The damn thing has given me nothing but trouble since I first started using it. Trouble is: now I can't use anything else so I am pretty much stuck with it.

I originally used it on my old PowerPC Mac Then I migrated everything over to the new Hack mac. It does run okay most of the time, though whenever I add an attachment it gives my beachball syndrome sometimes for two to three minutes before become responsive again. I'm sure it has to be to do with the migration of mail folders from PowerPC to Hackmac. I bet all I need do is delete some troubled little file.

Well I have tried the preferences, and they didn't do anything. After that I'm stumped. I'm using 2.1.1 (the latest no?) version.

Anyone else experienced mail app and serious beach balling, or is it just me?

Yes did have same problem with 10.4.7 (hackintosh) while attaching pictures etc..

now using the new 10.4.8 + patch and seems quicker, does stall for a 1 - 2 seconds but ok

sorry for not being much help but thats my version and build and did with 10.4.7 not with 10.4.8

I used to have the issue only with images like you - but now it's anything, zips, pdfs, whatever. It sux!

I do think it's some kind of Library related issue though. I didn't copy the PowerPC library of course, only the "Mail" folder. I think something bad came accross with it.

i have just upgraded to 10.4.8 and discovered that i can't send emails, and the To: and CC: fields are reduced to 2 pixel slots. and when i want to quit, it just stays there with the Quit option in the menu greyed out. i have imported mails from my old 10.4.7 mailboxes to this one. i don't know if this is what caused it, but there's another post here where the poster mentions that he can't send emails out either. i also can't see the Drafts ailbox anymore and my version shows as "Version 2.1.1 (752.3/749.3)" in About Mail. does this mean that it's mixing up 10.4.8 and 10.4.7 resources ?

I've used about three or four different versions of Mail since of been on x86 and all have had the same beach ball when attaching issue. This leads me to believe that something is up with my User Library.

Mirage3d, however, it sounds like you've got an installation gone haywire. Reinstall I would say. Either that or check your pms.
