So according to person at Fry's electronics (Burbank) my main board will accept a duo core 2.

Any truth to this? Its a 945 LGA pinset. This would be cool if I could, also, unlike windows, will it just boot up without change in hardware (for software).

Thanks!

Yeah alot of 945's accept core 2 duo, however look on the manufacturer's site and find your mobo, to see if you need a bios upgrade first. It should bootup fine even if you change the processor.

What make is it? Is it an intel brand, or intel chipset. Intel brand 945 mobos do NOT support core 2 duo, as far as I know (I have one), but other brands using intel 945 chipset do. (eg. Asus, gigabyte etc.) But only some, not all.

Hope this isn't confusing you.

But, yeah, just find out the exact make and model, and look it up, or tell us.

Peace

Well, just becuase the guy works at a PC place I normally don't follow their advice at all, you know how sales goes, from PC parts to music stores, most of the time, unless a manager, they can be somewhat cluesless (no offense to those in that field).

Anyway, its a mini ATX Intel Board, GMA950, two PCI slots, Intel chipsets.

Also, while not the proper place for it, has any system built to date able to use dual screens?

Thanks.

Still looking for the JaS DVD 10.4.8, got a Demoid invite the other day - -should be there but unclear as to what to search for - - looking for something that installs out of the box as this HackNtosh is somewhat critical in that I now use it (until I get my 24" iMAC or MAC PRO) for some daily work.

Peace, Cheers, and Happy New Year, hope is a great and blessed year for everyone and that everyone comes closer to their goals.

PS. Any musicians, composers here? I worked A&R soundtracks, scored some Film, Trailers, developed LOOP libraries for Sony, beta test for Giga, Tascam, Sony products etc.

u need exactly know what model do you have.
i'm also have intel mobo
D945 GNT model, but it support only pentium D processors, no core duo.
so try to find your mobo model and find it on intel site - there you will find all info about supported processors.

for now, as i know only one mobo from intel in mATX and Gma 950 support core duo processor
it's a Intel® Desktop Board D945GCL
seems like yours.

Yeah, we do need the exact model & make of your motherboard. It depends. Eg. mine is an Intel 945GTP - Also gma950, but only supports pentium 4 & pentium d, no Core 2 Duo.

Working dual displays (2 ViewSonic VP201B 20.1" LCD) on my Saffire X1800GTO using Natit_Uni. Nothing extra for me needed, it just worked smile.gif
