Hi all,
dunno if anyone already knows 'bout this pack... anyway ... that's it.
Once downloaded put all the components under: /Library/Quicktime

Here’s a codec pack I made with just about all of the codecs you’ll need for your new shiny mac you might of been fortounate enough to unwrap over the holidays.

While I swear by my Mac, I can’t say I’m aware of any Codec packs for Mac, and if there are it’s nothing like on Windows. This should make your movie viewing a bit easier.

Some might tell you to just download Perian, because it does everything. Perian advertises itself as the “swiss knife for QuickTime components”. It’s not. I’ve had terrible experiences with it, it’s XviD and DivX support are terrible. This package included Perian, because it does play some stuff, but it also includes the native intel builds for AC3 audio/XviD Video as well as DivX, WMV, etc..

You’re going to want to download the zip, extract it and move all of the .component files to /Library/Quicktime. The easiest way to get there, is open finder and do the following key combo: apple key + shift + go, and paste in this path: “/Library/Quicktime” and hit enter. From there, just drag the files into that folder and you’ll be good to go!

Enjoy.
