Hi,
Does anyone know how I can pass the "platform=ACPI|X86PC" -v option to boot? It seem the newer version 10.4.8 for Intel does not have that option.
I am currently stuck at the gray screen and it is not going anywhere at the moment.
Thanks

When OSX boots, first the screen turns black and goes to grey with a spinning icon.
As soon as the screen turns black, press and hold the F8 key until a command prompt appears. If the grey screen appears, you missed it and should try again.
Once you get booted, you can change your boot.plist to add the Timeout parameter:

Thanks, it works except that I am seeing a lot of "Failed to load extension"
It seems to have stuck at "Still waiting for root device" This could be the results of the Failed to load extension devices.

If this is after installation, what packages did you choose in the Customize window?

Just the default install. I will try the custom install this time and see what happen.
I have a Dell D620 which have a SATA drive. Will try the install again and post update after.
Thanks,

There is no default install with Hackintosh. The DVD is set up such that you MUST select the correct packages or you will not be able to boot. The reason is, there is no such thing as a default Hackintosh - no single set of patches for everyone.

I used custom install this time and received a kernel panic.

A quick Google says your processor is capable of SSE2 and not SSE3. Choose SSE2.

Ok - I will give that a try. I am having a little difficulty pressing F8 at boot time now.
As soon as I can get pass that, I will select SSE2.
10.4.6 seems to be much easier to install than 10.4.8 or it could just be me! dealing with Windose everyday

It didn't work.
- Install update patch for 10.4.8
- Install USB patch
- Install SSE2
I still receive kernel panic with kernel version 8.8.1. I am out of solution to install this version for now...

If you truly have SSE2, then the 8.8.1 kernel is not yet SSE2 capable. You have to wait for Semthex to finish developing it. And there is no SSE2 patch on the 10.4.8 DVD because it doesn't yet exist.
http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...ost&id=6330Verify SSE2 by going to Windows, download and run CPU-Z.

Hmmm... Let me try to take a picture of it and maybe you can tell me what I have.
I guess for now, I am gonna stick with 10.4.6

Thanks Rammjet... It looks like I have downloaded the 10.4.8 SSE3 for Intel only.
Oh well, will have to look for 10.4.8 SSE2 now

Semthex posted that he almost has the SSE2 kernel working. It works in single-user mode. Next is GUI mode.
