You can uncheck the option that says iTunes can eject an iPod, which is most likely the issue.

That is the same as putting it in to disk mode.... but there is no way for you to get itunes to not mount the ipod.... well, you could uninstall that but i dont think that would be very practical..... sorry, and may i ask as well why you may be wanting to do this?

Well I can tell you I'm kinda pissed that my new 80GB iPod did not come with a damn power adapter and that is has to be plugged into a USB port to charge. And when it does charge, the screen is then always on. To me, that is a sad cost-saving measure that is rather annoying. I find myself turning to eBay to get a power adapter just so I can charge it without it turning on and informing me NOT TO DISCONNECT THE DEVICE.

I think that's my #1 annoyance of the iPod. The rest of it rocks!

If you disable disk mode from iTunes, the screen will shut down

Well, I dislike having my ipod in diskmode because the HD spins, and that shortens its life right? I lost the charger for my ipod and now have to have it plugged in to charge

lol yea, i have a mini and my dad used to have a 40gb and then it got jacked and the new one didnt come with the charger and the first thing out of his mouth is "wow, how much cheaper can they get...?" it sucks... and the hard drive spinning for that little of time will decrease the life of it so little that you will not notice, i assure you the battery will die before your hard drive (unless the hard drive is helped out by drops etc, or defects...)

Yeah after posting about it, I did mess around a little and discovered that. Thanks, though.

Heres another idea, this may be something just as good, under preferences there is an option for itunes to not automatically open when the iPod is plugged in.... then i think there will only be a do not disconnect symbol for a little while while your os detects what it is and it sends back the stop signal.... maybe just as good? idk...

I think that if you hold down shift while plugging in the iPod, iTunes will ignore it.

At least I think it's shift...haven't tested it whistle.gif
