Does anybody know a program that automaticaly converts a dvd to a single file? I don't want a tiny iPod sized one and that is all i've found by searching so far.

what do you mean by "a single file"?
avi file, quicktime - use ffmpegx
otherwise i would use mactheripper to extract all dvd content, then use dvd2onex to convert to a single layer dvd

by single file I meant 1 avi file or mpeg file instead of the vob files on the dvd

You mean something like HandBrake?

handbrake does it. its what i use all the time to rip to mp4. i actually just ripped dumb and dumber today, it works great.

Use mac the Ripper to Rip your DVD's

Then use Handbrake to crop and encode them, these two programs are the best programs I have ever used.
