I need help with this tutorial on how to get backup without a .mac account. I want this backup program and not another program. I dont understand the webdav thing and a easy to follow tutorial would be very helpful. Thanks in advance...

If you're looking for a guide to help set up WebDAV and the webserver, here is a good one.

That's what you're going to run the webserver/web_dav server on also?

If yes, then OS X already has a version of Apache installed. You need to enable Finder to show hidden files and navigate to to etc/httpd/httpd.conf for some parts of the guide earlier. I can't really help because I'm no expert on this subject either, but you can try following along the guide, modifying locations to suit OS X.

I just did this, great project.

Try that tutorial Kowaru posted, that's the same one I used it's very easy to follow.

Also, if you (or anyone who finds this thread in a future search) want a quick-and-dirty solution, your old Windows box has built in webdav through IIS. This is what I did for a long time until I set it up on the apache server. You don't get the bells and whistles, but it's an excellent way to have your home PC act as a file server between multiple macs: link . (link also has webdav instructions for OS X and Linux)

However you set it up, be sure to lock down your server when all is said and done.

Has anyone been able to get this to work? I have tried with both Apache2 and IIS. I can't even get dav working under Apache2. I have created php scripts that will return the total and free space.

Has the verification process changed?
