OK,

Over the last week or so, I have been unsuccessful in being able to move my OS X to a larger drive.
I've bought software, tried just about every tool and app out there, read all the forums to the best of my ability, stayed up until 3-4 AM many days, tried things a bazillion different ways, and so forth. Sheesh, I even went without sex for a whole week! Not that tells you how much I am serious about finding a solution.

Let me say first, I appreciae all the assistance given here. Without it, my progress would have been dead.

I gave u.

I reinstalled, did a Migration, done.

What a pain in the butt!!

Two things:

I've done so many different things, never document them, and need to kn ow: I reinstalled to the new HD 10.4.5 Maxxuss patched DVD, works great. Previously I had upgraded to 10.4.7, and I don't remember how I did it. DO I do the Jas 10.4.6 + 10.4.7, if so, how, what, and what other patches, and the procedure. Once you hit 50, memory leaves your brain quickly, hence the need for documentation.

Secondly, searching for the total comple answer to the backup/cloning issue, I stumbled across this article.
The State of Backup and Cloning Tools under Mac OS X

Bottom line in my opinio afer reading this: THere is no solution that works 100% of the time, LIKE IT DOES ON A PC, so we must all wait for that solution, and until then, this OS may be only for the real techie, as the 'average' consumer, needs a backup process that "works", in addition to the Corporate client.

So, is OS X ready for prime time?

Maybe, but things need to be made available for it to be a 100% competitor.....and I haven't even begun to look at the other things that do or do not work, are easy or hard, etc.

Don't get me wron, I LOVE it all, and am a certified OS X convert, but thing just gotta get better to be the #1 OS to come in the future.

Well I must say, after watching some of the WWDC video, I'd think that the issue MAY be addressed via "TimeMachine"!!

Watch it, you might agree.

Oh, I can't wait!!

I used Disk Utility to make an image of the drive and scanned for asr and the image worked without any problems.

I snagged the NetRestore source code, built it on my x86 and I have had no issues what-so-ever making backups that are restorable by Disk Utility or Apple Software Restore.

I suspect you got incomplete instructions or instructions from someone who has little clue how to make a proper disk image that is restorable.

could you please write a small tutorial then BuildSmart? This issue is obviously causing people problems.
