VMware has announced a new beta for mac. Are we going to see a demo of it in a few hours as the rumors say?

I guess this means that we won't be seeing Leopard with virtualisation technologies.

But could that be our first shot of leopard?

How do you make the leap from a Logitech camera icon on the desktop to iSight support? The most logical thing is that VMWare allows the guest OS to use USB devices that are attached to the Mac, just as it does on Linux and Windows. What I find more interesting is the Parallels icon in the Dock! I guess they wanted to make sure they performed better than the competition.

What features are you all hoping to see on this release?

Here is my wish list:
Ability to use a physical partition.
Hopefully not dependant on VT technology
Easy drag and drop copying of files (found Parallels Shared Folders are a little buggy)
Better optimization of how Windows XP runs, since it is an MS product maybe they could strip out a bit of unnecessary code.

it makes sense to me to assume that it would be for the isight, and they are recommending logitech's software to manage it (as apple doesnt have support for windows with the isight - is that correct?).

it would be pointless for them to show another webcam working as most people using macs would be using isight.

but, of course this is all speculation and i could be completely wrong on all counts.

I don't know if you noticed the question mark at the end of the statement, in this case implies doubt or uncertainty. It's a feature that probably many people want, and makes sense for them to try implementing it. doesn't it?

Just wondering, are you are saying that VMWare is a Microsoft product? I don't believe this to be true unless some sort of buyout has occurred recently. I'm pretty sure that VMWare is their own company and even today are releasing competing products.

No, VMware is not a Microsoft product. In fact, Microsoft actually has a product in direct competition with VMWare with Virtual PC.

VMWare isn't a Microsoft product. You are confusing it with VirtualPC.

I stand corrected, I was confused for Virtual PC. I new they were somewhere in the virtualization arena, just zonked on the product name.
