I have just come home with a new macbook. So far I am super pleased with it.

I have installed parallels and windows server 2003 for my web development work. All is good so far.

The problem comes when I want to access one of the websites on the 2003 server. None of them work from OS X, though they work fine in Win 2003. I know this is down to the wins server, but being a Mac TOTAL newbie I have no idea where to start.

The default site works fine (entering the ip address of the server)

Any help would be gratefully received.

wins is not supported by any system except a windows box. Wins stands for Windows Internet Naming Service, so it only for windows boxes. You should drop wins and setup dns on the server (it really simple), its the universal guy all os's support it.

If you use the DNS server on Windows2003, then you can run with WINS resolution for "windows 2000" domains. Just use the manage tab and add role, DNS server and you should be on your way to getting it working. We have DNS on Windows 2003 with WINS resolution for the 2 NT4 boxen that will not die (insert IT admin deathwish here).

Thanks for the comments. You wouldnt needs wins though for what you are doing. DNS will do everything you need and less things to break.
