Trying to find the fastest system out there,,,,with QE/CI (ala FCP and Logic Use (very FPU and CPU dependent) thus the QE/CI enabled users only...


Anyone get CPU over 100% not total score but CPU RESULTS over 100%?

If so, if not in sig, please elaborate on system setup.

I'll go first with my stock, then tomorrow, post the new setup (Asus maybe, with 20% increase, although I still think a overclocked D 930 at 3.6 yields a 18% increase only in FPU/CPU...

Oh poopy doop. I should have been more specific, are you AMDers (I also have a AMD64 SSE2 only) using a ATIX1600?

In a nutshell, want to see RENDERING over 350 with QE/CI enabled.....AMD is fine, just want to know if those are working QE/CI.

Nice marks so far. If we can get into the 350 render mark, we getting close to quad G5, but not for 4 way render, but for one/two cpu render.

2nd thing is Xbench CPU score, sure the Xbench can be unreliable, but notice that the CPU mark (no memory, thread test) remains stable regardless. Thus looking for OVER 100 in CPU score in Xbenchy! construction.gif

Im using a ATI X1600 Pro 256MB DDR2, forgot to mention it above. About the render my score was 392, not bad for a 100€ A64 3200+ (overclocked of course).

Going to OC this Bitch once I get new Mobo (Abit AW9D-MAX i975X) and PSU (be quiet! 700W straight power) - currently Asrock Conroe-XFire-eSATAII i945 (lacks Memory remapping above 3GB) and Enermax Coolergiant 485W (way underpowered, sys needs min 550W-600W).

I would say if your wanting a cheap rendering system any E4xxx/E6xxx will do just fine...Just one thing to note is if you can w8 until July the Q6600 wil drop to around USD$260 to USD $300 and offer performance either better or on par with the Quad G5s.

1st of all, you have a 2ghz c2d.
2nd of all, you didn't factor in a warm room (my room is 80+ degrees in the winter time, and i cant control that) I"d like to see how warm YOUR room is.
3rd, considering i gained a 1ghz overclock for free using water with fans running at super low speeds of 1200 rpm at a silent 17db pushing 45cfms vs your temps at passive and not being actively cooled, it's nothing to laugh at.

yeah i dont care much for benches...nor my temps...it's all within limits. I dont notice any speed increases in todays high speed cpus anyway.

long as my media doesnt hiccup or lag when im doing mutiple things at once i'm fine

xbench is not an accurate benchmarking tool.

its like using a park bench and calling it a couch. it may seem that is working but guess what, it isnt.

xbench will vary your benches by just resizing the window!!

for example your res is set to 800x600 bench in xbench and you get a high score.
set it to 1024x768 and the bench will decrease.

with that said... use a better set of benchmarking tools.
