I have an answer for you, but probably not one you'll like.

The Acer webcam is very low-resolution. Sometimes it works in simpler applications like iChat, but it won't work in most other things (like Photobooth or Skype). The only "fix" is to install CamTwist. It makes more programs work with the built-in camera, but usually creates a lot of lag and isn't worth it. Feel free to try though.

This has been an issue for years with the Acer webcams, and I don't think a driver will fix it. Mac applications just expect more resolution than the little Crystal Eye can give.

You are right, the resolution is really poor, I've already tried with cam twist , the webcam is recognized but if I strart Skype also the program (Skype) say "webcam is using by another application....
with cam twist I'm no able to save the profile I make like this :

QUOTE (treschny @ Jul 18 2009, 02:33 AM) I got my Crystal Eye webcam working today with some fiddling. Works perfectly in Skype. Doesn't work in Photobooth, and half works with vertical lines in iChat (using iusbcam). Here's what I did:

- Download and install Camtwist
- pick Acer CrystalEye Webcam in Camera (lower right)
- choose PIP (picture in Picture) as the effect. Verify that your cam is working with the Preview under Tools.
- expand the PIP to take up the full size of the window by moving the Scale slider all the way to the right
- set the preferences to use CamTwist for all the apps you need it for

Then to get Camtwist running on bootup
- in System Preferences go to Accounts, Login Items, add CamTwist to open upon login and check "Hide"

It loads unobtrusively at bootup and is ready to use. if anyone knows how to get iChat working better, please share.

But at the end I can't select the option save so camtwist don't take my selection....
I'm very dispeased about this, all the rest work perfectly with 10.5.8, also the usb wireless adapter from TP-Link (10 euro!!) I'm planing to use laptop also for monitoring my little son when he is sleeping (my house have 3 floors) for save money without buy some expensive "internal cam" really expensive in the child-shop....for that I need webcam working...anyway I can make the same with iChat and two jabber account...before I had ubuntu on the laptop and the other two my desktop with 0sx86 just because the knowed wireless problem about my laptop (see this http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=110416 ) but now I solved the wi-fi problem and I have question with webcam...maybe I cam buy one like I have for the desktop but for me is very strange, it work with one and with the other no...in Italy we says something like "You fix one thing and two are broke..."
Anyway thank you for your answer and always excuse me for my raw-english
