Hello,

Just last night I installed iPC 10.5.6 and with a bit of tinkering was I able to get a stable system running. I then made use of the Software Update function and was able to upgrade to 10.5.8 at which point there were still no apparent issues. However, it became clear that only a single core of my 4-cored processor (q6600) was being utilized, so I went out and got the latest alpha of the Voodoo 2 kernel. Everything appeared to work as it had and my cores were now recognized, but my Firewire sound card (Edirol FA-66) had stopped working. Until that point I had done nothing to configure the card and it'd worked immediately after the first boot.

At this point the Edirol is correctly identified under the System Profiler, but Sound, under System Preferences, reports that there are "No output devices found." I'm not sure what to do next so I figured that someone here might have experience with the FA-66. Any takers?

Apparently, the Edirol FA-66 doesn't require specific drivers and instead uses Apple's CoreAudio driver.

Any ideas?

i'm sure by now you've probably tried it, but for my presonus firebox, i had to power cycle the system before the firewire 'sync' light was the correct color -- maybe you have a similar 'sync' problem?

I hadn't thought that to be the problem but I've restarted both the FA-66 and my machine multiple times.

in finder -> "go" -> utilities -> 'audio midi setup' -> audio devices perhaps there is something in there you can do.

for the firebox, presonus states that OSX users may need to set the firebox's "audio input format" from whatever hz you have to another value and then set it back.

other than that, you might need to hit up the vendor's support site.

good luck.
